The Gothic remake censorship debate has flared up again after a developer insisted the game’s controversial female character designs were never censored, only for newer screenshots to leave some fans unconvinced.
The discussion began when a Steam user asked whether the remake was “still censored,” specifically referring to earlier complaints about altered slave outfits and paintings:
That answer suggested the criticized designs were merely unfinished work-in-progress material, not deliberate changes.
However, newly shared screenshots comparing the remake’s female NPCs to the original Gothic have raised doubts about that explanation. While some facial details may have changed slightly, critics argue the newer models still appear heavily toned down compared to the original game’s far more revealing designs:
At minimum, the latest images make the developer’s “just WIP” explanation harder to accept at face value, though, some might suggest the “new designs” maybe haven’t been implemented yet.
“WIP” means they got caught and are doing damage control.

Another game remake that is getting butchered by censors is Assassin Creed Black Flag’s remake. Orignal had alot of women runnin around in bikini’s and the sex workers that were hot athlethic women, now, most of those same chars are covered up and the sex workers are all fat land whales that no one would touch now. They did more than just that, but thats just an example of what they censored. I was worried the second they said “a 2026 reimagining.” anytime you hear “modern” and some other words it usually means its being censored to hell and back.
