I genuinely wonder where people have gotten the claim that "most furries are zoophiles".
I've looked through many sources and each of them say that zoophilia is a highly controversial topic within the furry community and only a small percentage of furries are openly zoos. Plus, anyone who IS an open zoo within the community quickly gets exposed, shunned, and blacklisted by the greater community. Furries make it clear that zoo aren't welcome.
Unfortunately, yes, there are zoophiles that do wiggle their way into the community because it's a diverse fandom centered around fictional animal characters and they think they can easily fit in and hide their true perversion. But, in reality, that's the same with every community when it comes to predators and other nasty people. It's the internet, stuff like that is inevitable, come on.
And with the amount of furry NSFW (which in my opinion, CAN become borderline zoophilic if the focus of the character is the animal features), I can see why people would assume the community is inherently zoophilic. But there is a fine line between anthropomorphism and actual feral animals.
I've been in the furry community since 2018. I've observed the community dynamics for a while now, and I can confirm that zoophiles are very clearly not welcome, and zoophilia is not something that most furries stand for. Anyone that gets outed as a zoo is typically the focus of a lot of furry drama because of how hated it is.
A lot of people who believe furries are zoos haven't been around the central furry community and have only seen what's pushed into the algorithms to fetch more views and attention. As someone who HAS been around the ACTUAL community and not just the cloutchaser media, it's not as terrible as a lot of anti-furries make it seem.
I, too, want zoos and predators gone (as you can probably already tell from my channel's theme). I am just sick and tired of being grouped in with them as a furry, and I'm sure many other furries are just as tired.
