So for some reason: NES, SNES, GB Nintendo Classics apps have been updated to a major version bump. I have looked very quick, please wait a bit for me to look deeper, but it is worth the major update.
They have implemented challenges. Stuff akin to NES Remix (not the Remix kind, from what I can tell though). You cannot access them yet, you have to wait until the NSO app updates.
I will not reveal the games, y'all will probably find out soon.

That said like I still think there's no excuse for not putting more languages for some games on SNES and GB
Seems the thing that could be announced soon as a shadow drop.
I hope those replace the “open X game Y times in the last 30 days to get these user icon parts” system that NSO has because I don’t like how FOMO-y that got
this is like the most concrete proof we're getting a direct this week
why update these now and not even add games but add features like this unless we're about to get the grand reveal soon?
Oh hell yeah. I have NES Remix Pack on my phone with the Cemu emulator, as well as the NES World Champions game, so it's not like I'm missing that type of experience, but it's cool it's coming back and for more consoles.
Tho I do wonder. I have a feeling that NSO will get a price increase sooner or later, maybe this is a feature they’re adding to help justify doing so, by giving NSO more value?
Wasn't saying that off any concrete evidence, just speculation. NSO is already insane value, but with prices increasing elsewhere, I feel it would be the next step. And smaller additions like this could be enough justification on Nintendo's end to do such a thing.
Ohhhh I like the sound of this, maybe something worthwhile for earning platinum points
