I'll be that guy, but are EGS exclusives really so bad, that it reasons illegally downloading the game? I don't care for Tim Sweeney and I've never given a dime to EGS, but I think people should at least give a little credence to the reasons that developers will take on exclusivity deals in the first place. PlayStation and Xbox do just the same in providing massive funding and support to studios in order to bring their game to launch in some exclusive capacity, temporary or otherwise. EGS lacks countless features that Steam has, still have to use Heroic to even access your game library there on Linux, but it's still nevertheless available on PC. I'd traditionally just wait for it to come to Steam, but if it really is a permanent exclusive, then fine. High production games cost a ton in the way of time and cash, and especially with the collapse of Nagoshi Studio/Gang of Dragon after having their funding pulled, it's hard to really reason "piracy as a form of protest" angles when the game is locked behind another app, not a $500+ console. Just hard to blame devs for caving to the Sweeney bucks when game development, especially at a certain scale, is so taxing as it is, and it's potentially difficult to procure investment elsewhere.

I think it's perfectly valid to skip out on the game to avoid supporting Epic, and the exclusivity practice as a whole. Didn't buy Alan Wake 2 for the same reason, but it's at least worth acknowledging the precedence that some games like AW2, probably Gen Atlas as well, couldn't be made without that crucial funding, and they probably do sift out external investment quite a bit before making the choice to cut off Steam entirely, not like that'd be a no-brainer decision from the jump.
