Yes, I really like "Highwire" and wish it was included as well...big disappointment! I also like "Anybody Seen My Baby", but Jagger/Richards had to throw k.d. lang a songwriting credit for that song later on, as it resembled her "Constant Craving" hit, so yeah, now they're leaving it off their Honk comp apparently...

Oh I assumed this went out of print when the 2009s came out. I have the old Virgin disc. I didn't realize that UMG released it also.

 

The credit was there from the start; Keith's daughter noticed the similarity before they released the track. They're releasing a new live video version on Bridges to Bremen this year, no reason the studio version couldn't have been included on Honk

 

I can't think of anything the world needs less than another Rolling Stones best of compilation. 25 pages for this?

 

It gave me an excuse to listen to a load of Rolling Stones music over the weekend. Surely that’s a good thing.

It’s on a 2011 tribute album to Ian Stewart and the Dylan track features Mick, Keith, Charlie, Ronnie, and Bill. Also, most of the other songs have one or more Stones on the tracks. Well worth seeking out.

I have both Jump Back versions because of the difference in mastering and song versions. Anyway, I picked up three disc version of this comp today and promptly used the third disc as a coaster for my Heineken 0.0. Listening to disc one right about now and enjoying it. By the way, does the one disc album contain the single versions?

 

How does disc 1 sound to you...too compressed and loud, or despite the low DR numbers, it still sounds OK perhaps?

 

I would have bought it from you, surely others who only wanted it for that disc would have too. Is there still beer on it now? Maybe it can still go in the classifieds under 'gently used'

I haven't seen a one-disc version actually out there in the wild, yet... and the streaming version appears to have a different running order than the CD/vinyl editions but it's all the same tracks ("Beast of Burden" with Sheeran is still unavailable though)

 

So in other words you bought this comp for nothing...the 3rd disc is the only reason to own this.

I'm sorry you dislike Dave Grohl, to each their own, but putting him in the same league as Ed Sheeran and Brad Praisly seems rather unfair to Dave.

 

Brad actually seemed at home onstage with the Stones, and capable of playing sympathetically with them on "Dead Flowers". Dave is fine when doing his own thing, or playing the drums, but on guitar and vocals I feel he's just not a good fit with this band

 

I think the HONK 3CD set should have been similar to the Elton John Diamonds 3CD Box....all studio songs and a true replacement for GRRR!, but the track selection on the first two CDs is missing some great songs and the 3rd disc containing fairly recent live material with other artists is surprising to say the least.

 

Would anyone know if there is a U.S. Honk 2CD version on the Interscope label?

I only see the 2CD set on the Polydor label in the EU, while it appears the U.S. is only selling the 1CD and 3CD set, not the 2CD?

I'm glad they didn't. Tacking on a couple new songs as collector bait to get serious fans to buy stuff they already own is one of the lamest ideas the industry ever came up with. I want new Stones material badly, but it should come out on its own, even if it's just an EP or something. (Granted, the digital world means we don't have to spend $15+ on a CD for two new songs anymore, but the practice is still super lame, and I'm glad it was avoided here)

 

If they ever put out another compilation they ought to consider using alternate takes imho.

 

The deluxe vinyl version of this set might be a good way to get Voodoo Lounge, Bridges To Babylon, and A Bigger Bang tracks on vinyl.

 

I've read the last 4 pages of this thread and there's a lot of complaining/discussion about the cd set. Anyone heard the deluxe vinyl set yet? As I stated before, this might be a cheap option for me to hear some of those Bridges to Babylon songs like Out of Control on vinyl.

 

I believe this is the first compilation package to feature songs like, Out of Control, You Got Me Rocking, Love is Strong, Rough Justice etc. On vinyl, no?
