Solve Sanctuary has been taking in unwanted animals for eight years now. We have rescue horses, pigs, sheep, chickens, turkey, cat and dogs. The household is fully Vegan in reflection of our purpose. We are pleased to have been able to develop a model that is sincere and sustainable for all. This means these animals can now live as natural and safe a life as possible  The costs associated with this have been supported by family members' jobs until now. However, this is very limiting when it comes to rescuing more animals in need and we are regularly now declining animals we could adopt as we are now at the limit due to ongoing costs. To care for the animals while the family is at work we host volunteers. Usually, at least three are required at all times to ensure all animals needs are met and paddocks cleaned. The big old farm house is great for hosting many people but takes a lot of upkeep and volunteers help with this too. To feed and house all of these extra people adds a significant cost but it is critical for the animals' well being. The property is beautiful for all, animals and people and so suitable to hosting in a serene environment, hidden well off the road and surrounded by rural countryside. The B&B room contributes to the ongoing Vet bills. More funds are needed for further development of fencing, animal housing and ongoing huge food costs for both animals and volunteers.There is room to welcome more animals to this Sanctuary but without some additional funds it would be a risk. We are one of the very few such Sanctuaries for rescue farm animals in the South of NZ. It's a place hundreds of people visit to help and learn about veganism and the care of animals. They then take this on in their life and travels and hopefully they too can influence for the benefit of other animals.
