It's not just that. Arin is totally inept at ad-libbing to keep the videos entertaining. He has Dan but Dan mainly just reacts deadpan to whatever Arin's doing. Dan IS an excellent comedian, but only when he wants to, and the environment he's in doesn't offer him a ton of material to work with, and him not being particularly into games doesn't help.
Agree with this. I also think the fact they've run out of childhood stories has made it harder for Dan to actually make jokes, because there's nothing to go off of. Most of Arin's jokes are "hey look at this stupid looking thing", which you can't build off of.
If you look back a few years you get some solid jokes from Dan when he's talking about childhood/college days. The one about how kids were scared of him for being a "scary adult" when he was a stoner teen always makes me chuckle, because not only is it funny, but he can actually format the joke properly. The takes the time to build up the story about where he was, why he was there, what he looked like and who he was with. Arin doesn't do that, he finds a thing to joke about, makes the joke quickly and that's it.
I personally found the forklift simulator stuff funny, because they took the time to make jokes that made sense, well at least Dan did. Listen to the song that was made out of that and compare the lyrics between Dan and Arin. Dan makes a story about accidentally hitting someone and killing them with a forklift, Arin throws in that he was his dad and now he had to kill his mom and actually he also has to kill his brother and...
It's shit.
I don't "mind" it being a little loud..What I'm sick of..Is so many food episodes,that will boil down to this

Fuckin worked for PewDiePie and that guy is about as funny as a brick gently sitting in a wall that you forgot was there, so.
It's a difference in the time period. PewDiePie did the loud screaming in 2010 when that was what was funny on YouTube. They also made really dumb and shitty poop jokes and some that would be considered dodgy nowadays. That's the key word though, nowadays.
Screaming isn't funny on YouTube anymore, unless you go full on with the old style of YouTube, which is a dangerous choice.
I hate to bring them up because people always make the comparison but OneyPlays make the same kind of loud=funny humour, but they know they aren't high brow and play into how dumb they are, which is exactly like old YouTube.

I mean, for me anyways, screaming humor wasn't funny at that time either. But I mostly watch for Dan, Arin is just also there and when they're funny they're really funny. Plus it's a nice, "I can have this on and not much care about it" break in the day.

Loud works ona context but if you yell a bad joke it's just bad
