BIO

Nō Ngāti Pū ahau. Ko Ngāti Rangiwhakaea, rātou ko Ngāti Rangirangi, ko Ngāti Rangipakihi ngā hapū. Ko Hikutaia te marae.

I am a published author with professional experience as a Visual Effects Artist on film and television productions. I bring core competencies in visual and literary storytelling to PhD research. The resesarch involved generative AI when crafting a literary speculative fiction. Midjourney was used to create images of wāhine Māori in a near futures context. The discovery that Midjourney is unable to generate wāhine as contempories of a near futures context led to a research focus on the societal biases produced by an AI system.

My research connects creative practice, AI fluency, critical discourse analysis and critical user engagement.
