The Wild’s offseason now includes naming a new director of amateur scouting.
Judd Brackett has exited the Wild after six seasons in that role, joining Toronto as an assistant general manager.
Brackett, 49, came to the Wild from Vancouver and helped amass one of the most impressive prospect pools in the NHL.
During his six drafts in charge, the Wild selected Marco Rossi, Jesper Wallstedt, Carson Lambos, Liam Ohgren, Danila Yurov, Charlie Stramel and Zeev Buium with first-round picks.
All but Stramel, who finished his college career at Michigan State in March with a broken ankle, have played for the Wild, and the team packaged Rossi, Ohgren and Buium along with its 2026 first-rounder to acquire superstar defenseman Quinn Hughes from the Canucks in December … after Brackett drafted Hughes while he was Vancouver’s director of amateur scouting.
A former goalie at Northeastern University and Connecticut College, Brackett started his scouting career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He will oversee the Maple Leafs’ player evaluation at the amateur and pro levels.
Ricard Persson, the Wild’s director of European scouting, and assistant GM Mat Sells will run this year’s draft.
Meanwhile, the Wild have hired Sylvain Rodrigue as their director of goaltending. Rodrigue, 52, will work with the organization’s goalie coaches in the NHL and American Hockey League and drafted and signed goaltenders in a development capacity.
