I wanted to like it, I am trying to finish this game but out of all the story driven games I have played this has gotta be the worse. The only good thing I can say is Tyler and Alyson feel more believable than Max and Chloe. I can feel LiS fans preparing to hang me

It attempts to add a few gameplay elements compared to Chapter 1. However they are all horrendous.

This chapter was an absolute pain to get through.

Chapter 2 starts with a flashback that ties together the events of the night that Mary Ann (the mother) died. In the flashback a few jokes are shared between the adolescent Tyler and Alyson. Ice cream is eaten. A flicker of Mary Anns troubled mind is shown. A bedtime story is read. Alyson, hearing Tylers plea for help grabs a pair of scissors from the kitchen and runs outside to help. Without an explanation or chance to give one, Alyson stabs her mum in the back just as her pursuit of Tyler is coming to an end. A moment of clarity is shown from the mother as she uses her last words to calm her panicked children, "it's going to be okay". The flashback ends. I won't lie, I'am intrigued.

We are then treated to a somewhat touching current day/flashback combination scene displaying Tyler and Alyson playing around the house as children which consistently switches to show them doing the same activity as adults. I found this a really creative way to display three things:
1. It cemented in my mind that these sisters loved each other.
2. It showed what has been lost as in it showed the potential of how their lives could have been had events not happened in their life as it had.
3. The scene helps convey how disillusioned Tyler and Alyson feel about the current situation they find themselves in (particularly Tyler).

Considering that the game is starting to get creative with how it conveys the past and present it should come as no surprise that that creativity runs out. Shared apparitions are back seemingly for no reason than "they're twins". Certainly for no reason that's entertaining or interesting. There's a hint that these apparitions could be some sort of supernatural thing such as spirits but at this point, the game is holding that card too close to its chest.
Faster than a light switch being used, Tyler is back to being as dense as ever and is going for the worlds most obtuse leading male award. Alyson, Tyler and Sam (mothers old friend) head out to the garage. Upon seeing the gun rack that once held the shotgun that Mary Ann had on that fateful night that she died, Sam gets upset. Making his excuses Sam leaves. "I wonder why Sam got so upset?" ponders Alyson because the clear point of interest of Sams upset wasn't enough to clue her in. "Oh he probably forgot he was all out of bourbon"...... replies Tyler. It is genuinely unclear to me why Tyler is trying - and failing - to make a joke at the expense of an upset person. An upset person who is emotional about the death of his (Tylers) own mother. Remember those positive sentiments I typed earlier at the beginning of this review? Those are now gone due to Tyler. In the garage Tyler only confirms that he's an insensitive, narcissistic wannabe bully who's seemingly out of touch with the rest of humanity to such an extent that a genuine plot device within this storys plot is "other people have feelings too".
I was genuinely shocked and puzzled why the creators allowed Tyler to be so unlikable. At this point, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that he likes to ask people with no legs for a race just as he's pushed them from their wheelchair. I'd simply think, "yip, sounds about right".

What makes this scene worse, is you - the player controlling Alyson - can scold Tyler for his comment to which he acknowledges isn't funny and that Sam was indeed clearly upset. In otherwords, Tyler was purposely being horrid even by his own standards. I ask again, why would someone design a main character that craves sympathy and understanding to be this unlikable?

We're then forced to stomach the shared apparitions mechanic again and make a decision that sets in motion what we're going to ask the next person we're to belittle, sorry I meant interrogate.

On route to their next destination, and similar to chapter 1, Tyler comes to the realisation that he may have gotten things wrong about Sam and Alysons adopted father (the target of the above mentioned interrogation) as in he admits he went too far with his insensitivity however, at this point the damage is already done. He's truly an unlikable character.

After breaking into the archive records room of the police station, we find out a few more details about Mary Anns death. If you've experienced any media before the plot delivered won't come as any surprises and you'll have probably already guessed it at this point. The mother was referred to child services and actually died by drowning, not the stab wound in the back given to her by 10 year old Alyson with a pair of scissors. A slight confrontation happens with the police chief but nothing note worthy. It's time to hunt down the women who contacted child services, Tessa (a women who helped their mother).

The next few scenes comes and goes without anything remarkable happening and as a result I couldn't help but notice the general direction is odd within chapter 2. One second there's smiles and grins at cheesy jokes then snap, the next shot is of the same people with downtrodden expressions. The lack of consistency and transition in mood is jarring to say the least.

Tyler and Alyson arrive in the cemetery to see if they can hijack Tessa from paying her respects to the dead because Tyler and Alyson have no idea there's a time and place for things. The goal here is to find out why Tessa contacted child services. Alyson breaks down at their mothers grave whereas Tyler who initially shows concern almost immediately changes the mood with an angry frown when they notice Tessa behind them.

I won't lie, what was supposed to be an emotional confrontation turned humorous for myself. Apparently good old Mary Ann liked a drink and to sleep around, "my type of gal" I thought with a chuckle. Anyway, she also had her children steal when she decided not to go to work or accept "handouts" < not so much my type of gal for the record. As expected logical reasons are given some of which were previously confirmed by the police chief. The only real new piece of info here is that Sam knows more about Mary Anns tricks than Tessa does.

Satisfied with what little they know Tyler and Alyson head back home where a fire has been started by an unknown person who satisfactorily knocks Tyler down with a door to his face and then runs off into the night. Turns out Mother kept two letters under the floor boards from their father. One a love letter and the other suggesting that she gets an abortion that he'll pay for it. I can't remember the exact line however, there was a line in the first letter that made me think "it's a priest isn't? the one from the photo in the shop". So there's a prediction for you.

The real issue that I have with this game is that since it doesn't do anything that I haven't already experienced - gameplay wise - the entire title rests on it's weakest part, the story. There's simply way too many dull characters. Out of the two main characters, one is almost forgettable - which is saying something seeing as you control her at certain points - and the other is completely unlikable. Tyler is so unlikable that when given a choice, it genuinly feels odd to pick the "nice guy" option because you 100% know that Tyler wouldn't say/do it.

Forever the optimist, I hope the story turns around because so far, it's been more fun taking short hand notes and typing these reviews.

the trans rep is incredible, and i really enjoyed the fact that you can experience a story and enjoy a character who is realistic in his identity and has a strong head on his shoulders.
i also love the twin bond trope, seeing a realistic sibling dynamic is really refreshing!

This was a good chapter, it delved more into the possible motivation for the events that happened then raised some new questions. I enjoyed the character reveals and the choices that had to be made for each one. It's been fun playing this with my sister as we try to guess what happens next and reason out what choices to make. The fluff with Michael had a nice enjoyable mini-game.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game—beautiful graphics, an engaging storyline, and well-developed characters. While I am not personally part of the LGBTQ+ community, I found the story intriguing and compelling. The themes felt naturally woven into the narrative, rather than forced, making it an experience that anyone can appreciate. Overall, a well-crafted and immersive game. Well done to the developers!

This episode was arguably the weakest of the episodes, but still a very personal and melcholy game. The game starts with a cute and fun scene between Tyler and Alison, and it was a great way to start an episode.

It had some character development with characters as well as finding out secrets. All of which was ok. Its ending was interesting and intriguing.
The story is free in June for Pride Month, so it is how I got the game. The story is a recommend form me.

So very good. The first chapter posed a ton of questions, and while this answers a great deal of those, more compelling questions come forth in chapter 2. While the end of chapter 2 doesn't punch as hard as the end of the first chapter, getting to explore and spend more time with the twins is a joy you shouldn't pass out. Thank God that the third chapter is just around the corner.

Episode 2 of Tell Me Why has a stunning setting, a strong narrative, and emotional moments, but the pacing drags it down. I love choice-driven adventure games, yet for the first time in this genre, I felt moments of pure boredom. Maybe it’s the lack of engaging side characters or the weaker dialogue choices, something just didn’t hit as hard as it should have. That said, the ending caught me off guard, and the emotional beats still landed. I didn’t love it, but I’m still eager for what’s next.

I don't understand why the score is kind of low for this title. If you liked Life is Strange, you'll almost certainly like this one

Mary-Ann was a saint! She gave her life to her children on a silver platter! She feels like she has been stabbed in the heart!
I wish the Lord would take me now...
I'm gonna eat all the salmons!
