Gravity Circuit feels as if someone has found a lost cartridge from an alternate universe where the platformer genre didn’t die out but continued to evolve for another 30 years.

While other games tell me about the fate of the world, robot politics, and the meaning of artificial intelligence, Gravity Circuit offers a more effective approach:

— See a problem?

— Hit it.

And you know what?

It works.

It's a mega man zero clone that is very good and responsive. Hard mode isn't the best tuned so maybe stick with normal.

So the short of Gravity circuit is it's a fast paced, face punching, hookshot swinging good time with a killer soundtrack to boot and a lot of variety in what you can have to take with you during missions, it has three difficulties but playing through normal I can say it's a blast you should give a try if these are your kinds of games, I know I enjoyed it dood!

Full review time! Gravity circuit was a rather interesting one, the game plays great as you have your basic three hit combo, a super attack that costs meter, two hit air combo, a low hit if you really want and most importantly throwing beaten enemies at other enemies! Which is crazy satisfying to do, you can run hookshot and jump around the map at high speeds, which to a degree score wise it encourages you to as I was often a jogger or worse searching for the power ups and people to rescue for the sweet sweet rewards but all that does is give you more money in that category dood.

The story is focused on a world of reploi-I mean machine people under attack from a virus army, with only but nine heroes to save them! Now only one heavily injured or is he? As you start the game as Kai the Gravity Circuit! And dang if he isn't stylish dood!

The soundtrack is a big part of this game too, it makes running through and fighting in each level feel so exciting and more fun than it already is, stages are themed after who you are going to fight, it's very Megaman of it, honestly I feel it takes heavy inspiration from Megaman Z in fact which is probably why I really enjoyed playing this, some stages could be brutal but the game is designed in a way that you can more than make up for it and a lot of it was either me being a dumb dork or meant to be challenging for the upgrade or bot you saved so it's nothing bad for sure dood.

The game has three types of upgrade to it, first off are passive upgrades, these can be bought with both money and tokens you earn for saving people of which you can equip three, they range from getting more energy from attacking for your super attacks, a double jump and my personal favourite the slide invulnerability <3 there are way more than that though, all with varying uses dood.

The second thing is skills, these are basically your super of which you can equip up to four of at a time, these can range from a heal, (Which I used a lot lol) offensive moves which can have some unique uses to them or even handy abilities like creating a platform which I honestly could and likely should have abused more during the whole game but going one jump only swing times made it faster and more fun! It certainly adds a lot to the game dood.

Finally we have paint jobs! Perks of being a bot is ya get a siiick set of paint! But also they have effects to them! Such as air sliding or projectiles for your attack! There's more of course but some I didn't find XD and the rest I'd like for ya'all to find yourselves of course dood!

Enemies had some nice variety to them, some even interacting with the levels gimmicks which I highly appreciate having a double threat that's so creative! But bosses in particular were a fun time, they all had their unique styles to them, some were a lot harder than others which was cool but also kind of a pain at times, I think some of the achievements were a little unfair against bosses, not because they are hard exactly but avoiding some things when they get invulnerability after so many hits or their super just makes taking them down before that kinda eh but as far as making the bosses a challenge rather than wrecking them? It was a great addition in that regard, yay for not wanting achievements I say dood!

There's a home base where you can talk to who's there, sometimes people you've saved, there's also a boss fight room and training dummy room above the command centre which the game doesn't mention at home base so enjoy trying out all your skills and such there rather than live testing them like I had to dood. XD

And that's it really, everything felt real fun, especially the last parts of the game, they managed to make it feel so intense and final as it should be, thank ya'all for reading and I hope if ya get this you enjoy it as much as I did dood! ^-^7

This is a good game. If you want punchy Mega Man esque platforming, this is definitely that. If that's enough for you, buy this without worry. Be aware it may be kinda tough if you're not used to this kind of gameplay.

The Good

- Fast movement and platforming.
- Decent music. All the tracks are good, but no bangers.
- Burst system is neat. Lots of options.
- I love the palletes. Best part of the upgrade systems imo
- Nifty hookshot for grabbing enemies and ceilings. Very satisfying in combat.
- Achievements are pretty no nonsense. Got'em all in 3 playthroughs.

The Nitpicks

- The enemy placement tends to make it so you can't rush. A lot of enemies start up their attack immediately when on-screen, which is really annoying. (Those fire enemies are the worst) This is made worse by the energy attacks being unblockable without using the counter burst, which I didn't tend to use. Those guys with the shields are placed in low ceiling small platform spots a lot, which meant getting really close and punching them. Those big guys that tend to be in front of the boss door are obnoxious. Get close to attack, don't know what attack they're gonna throw out, risk damage everytime cause it could be energy attack.

- If you're gonna have us use hookshot for platforming, don't be so stingy on what's okay to hook to or not. I can't hook on some blocks that are next to those green beam shooters, which was pretty annoying.

- Contact damage is a major annoyance. It tended to be what caused the most damage. Biggest example I can think of: In the junkyard level, there's a mini-boss that has two big fists. Using your starting burst attack will just lead you to getting hit by the fists by contact. Really annoying. And that double hitting up attack is gonna get you hit by contact damage a lot.

- When using the palette that gives you the air dash, I would accidentally use it right before landing A LOT which got me hit/killed frequently. There should be a buffer of some kind to control for that.

- Bosses do not always telegraph their attacks well. The Kernel fight got me hit by his punches and the grab a lot because of this. The ice level boss flyinng in the air constantly and shooting icicles or balls of ice got me hit A LOT just by going for an attack, and not knowing when he's doing one or the other. And the final boss... what the hell is the telegraph for his eye rapid fire attack?! On the final phase I pretty much just tanked to survive it on my no-upgrade/burst/chip run, cause with the enemies also shooting energy, it felt like trying to avoid all of it was gonna take longer, therefore take more damage from the fight.

- Characters are cool to look at, but the dialogue is pretty lackluster. It doesn't feel serious, or lighthearted, just... there.

This game gets a lot right, but a bit wrong. It's great for a run or two, even has extra modifiers to change it up. I'd recommend, but if you're pretty good at these kinds of games, there's some nitpicks that may bother you. Not enough of an issue to not recommend though. I had a great time.

A great Mega Man inspired game. Close to Shovel Knight in terms of love and care put in. The achievements can be earned on any difficulty if you want to go for 100%

This game was..... a good attempt, but meh.

There are a lot of niche things that struggle to be coherent.

Bosses are engaging and unique. Easy.

There was an option to always run, or double tap forward to run. So an odd choice I guess. I would've preferred to have a dash button and a dash jump. but I left always run on the entire time.

Upgrades are fighting for spaces and you can't really have a combo that fully excels.
An upgrade gives you a double jump that you will never remove or turn off. It is essentially required once acquired. There are certain jumps that need this without you getting frustrated at the tight jumps. Without it, you will struggle to get anywhere.

"Super" moves went mostly unused by me, except the healing one, and that too wasn't used so much. Super moves were basically something flashy to do that was unreliable and weak.

Grappling hook has little to no expression. I had zero confidence with this move. But it was required to get past certain sections, I think.... Once I got double jump, most jumps became trivial.

Grabbing and throwing things was fun.

Flip kick needs a buff for a move that nearly guarantees you taking a hit. It is really weak, probably the weakest skill in the game with zero use. Zero knockback, and no recourse if you were too close. The skill demands you're in their face for it to hit them....

Getting civilians was something to get you upgrades. Ok, fine. Collecting colors for different moves or skills really was a moot point since you only get them after beating the game.

Once I got maybe 2 health upgrades, all bosses were one-shot. Including the final boss/ boss rush.

The story was kinda cool and dramatic. nearly all characters had some super small use but had plenty of personality.

There is a hard mode, but I was not interested in fighting the games shortcomings on level design and enemy placements.

Pretty good and fun game. Also beat the game without getting any health upgrades because I couldn't find any, idk I just thought that was worth noting.

Wow, this game was very clearly made by a graphic designer.
It looks amazing, but the gamplay killed my dog, ate my wife and got the loaded gun in my closet calling my name.
It's sad, because it looks really good. The gameplay is just really bad.
Note that I am playing on hard, so maybe it's actually fun on normal or easy.

"Holy crap! It's Megaman!"
This game is a love letter to all MM fans, especially Zero series. It has a callback or nodes to MM and X series too.
As a fan of the series since PS1, I highly recommend this game that cure the needs of new Megaman game.

Fast, sharp, tight gameplay & controls. It *feels* very rewarding to play and doesn't feel impossible to master/get really good. Now is a perfect time to grab it since the sequel just got announced and this version is free! (for now)

Completely unique and original take on the action platformer genre.

You're really missing out by not grabbing this game for free on Steam right now.

As a Mega Man fan, this game was something I was truly surprised by. It might just be the best Mega Man Successor out there, to me at least. This game truly highlights what Mighty no. 9 got wrong. It tried too hard to play JUST LIKE Mega Man, trying to BE the new Mega Man, and it came up short. It highlighted how little Keiji Inafune really understood what made Mega Man so great.

Gravity Circuit on the other hand, does something really cool. It takes common Mega Man tropes and twists them into something brand new.

The main character, the titular Gravity Circuit, is strictly a melee fighter. Close quarter fisticuffs are the name of the game here. You're also given something akin to a hookshot or the Chain Rod for those who played Mega Man Zero, to grab enemies from a distance if you've beaten the hell out of 'em enough. When they turn grey, grab them with that, and you can hold onto them and throw them at enemies for massive damage.

Instead of special weapons, after you beat a boss, you get access to a few of their techniques that you can then download from a not at all suspicious looking vendor named Nega. Don't worry, he's perfectly fine, not at all suspicious. Ignore the cloak that's hiding his whole appearance. ;) The special skills can then be swapped out at will, with up to four being equipped at a time. This combined with being able to equip up to three upgrade chips as well, you can make a variety of fighting styles to suit your needs and preferences. And with the ability to save up to 3 loadouts that you can easily shift between on the Pause Menu, there's no reason not to mix it up. Seriously, the customizability of Gravity Circuit's power set is staggering.

Platforming is where the name Gravity Circuit comes into play. I was thinking he'd have the ability to control gravity, but no. It's more like with really skilled platforming, you can just tell gravity to f*ck off. That hookshot thing I mentioned can also be used to grab onto ceilings, allowing you to Tarzan your way over obstacles, and when you throw an enemy or object while in the air, you actually get a bit MORE momentum, and aerial attacks push you even higher into the air. With really good aerial controls, wall jumping, an optional double jump that can be bought really early into the game, you can stay in the air for a long time.

If all of this seems daunting and a lot, that's because it is. I'll admit, my first time playing Gravity Circuit, it was hard. The game has a learning curve. However, there IS a training area that can teach you the controls and let you practice. Once you learn it, you don't ever really forget it, least that's how I feel.

All in all, this is a fantastic Spiritual Successor to Mega Man. Please, get this game and try it out. As of this review, the game is FREE TO PLAY (don't know how long that'll be but I remember it wasn't that expensive even when it wasn't free), and next year the sequel is coming out. You have NO EXCUSE not to try it.

if you see an indie game with probable room for a sequel, wait. don't buy it. the way things are going, it won't just go on sale, it'll be given away freely when that sequel IS announced.

shows you what the value of keys are in this Online DRM Digital Age -- the people who publish these games will reduce their base cost to nothing as an advertising tool.

does sort of make the people stupid enough to buy the thing kind of annoyed, though. but what does that matter? they've got our money.

the game itself is fine. very workable, it didn't stand out when I bought it, but it was very polished and the people who made it did so with care and passion. I recommend the game. but I guess not this new practice of "Screw what our established paying costumers thing - we've got a sequel to promote!" these small publishers are about right now.
