AI Features on Linktree

An overview of Linktree's AI features

Linktree offers a range of artificial intelligence (AI) features that help you create content or generate insights or recommendations within your Linktree. This article explains how these AI features work, what you should know about AI-generated content, and your responsibilities when using them.

How AI features work

AI features on Linktree generate results (called Output) based on information provided to the system (called Input).

Input may include things like:

  • Text prompts you enter e.g. asking questions within our Insight Chats feature.

  • Content you upload or add to your Linktree like images or videos e.g. uploading a profile image and using our Restyle AI feature.

  • Information available on the Linktree platform and from your profile including your links e.g. AI generated link titles or AI generated bios.

  • Links you submit to create your Linktree.

  • Information provided by third-party services e.g. authenticating with Instagram so that we can analyse your social media data and provide you with social analytics.

The AI system uses this Input to generate Output, which may include text, images, analytics and profile insights or recommendations depending on the feature.

AI-generated content may not always be accurate or unique

AI-generated Output can sometimes be:

  • Inaccurate

  • Incomplete

  • Misleading

  • Offensive

  • Unsuitable for your intended purpose

Linktree does not guarantee that AI-generated Output will be:

  • Accurate

  • Complete

  • Non-infringing

  • Suitable for a particular purpose

In addition, AI systems generate content based on patterns in large datasets. Because of this, similar or identical results may be generated for other users, even if different prompts are used.

Your responsibilities when using AI features

When using AI features on Linktree, you are responsible for ensuring that:

  • Your Input complies with applicable laws.

  • Your Input does not infringe the rights of any third party.

  • Your Output has been reviewed and verified before you use or publish it.

  • Your use of any Output complies with applicable laws and Linktree policies.

Before publishing or sharing AI-generated content, you should ensure it is appropriate for your audience and intended use. Any decisions or actions you take based on AI-generated Output are your responsibility and any Output should not be considered professional advice.

Image Generation AI Usage on Linktree

Which features on Linktree currently utilize image generation AI?

  • Custom link thumbnails: Starter, Pro, and Premium Linkers can generate custom link thumbnails in admin by selecting the “add thumbnail” button below an existing link and clicking “generate a thumbnail with AI.” Linkers can customize the thumbnail with a link title, link URL, and other details within the prompt field.

  • Profile Image AI Restyle: Pro, and Premium Linkers can edit their profile image in a wide range of filters and AI art themes such as “cartoon” or “watercolour”.

These features have been designed to give Linkers more options, flexibility and creativity to personalize their profile and show off their personal style and brand.

Which AI model does Linktree use and why? What is Linktree doing to keep Linkers, visitors, and creators safe?

Linktree uses DALL-E 3, provided by OpenAI, to create brand-new custom avatar or thumbnail images.

With Linkers and visitors’ safety as a priority, Linktree performs its own reviews of AI-generated content on the platform to ensure compliance with our Community Standards and ethical AI practices. OpenAI’s commitment to safety and transparency aligns with Linktree’s values and Trust & Safety efforts.

For example:

  • OpenAI’s policies explicitly forbid usage that might result in harm to oneself or others, e.g. “to defraud, scam, spam, mislead, bully, harass, defame, discriminate based on protected attributes, sexualize children, or promote violence, hatred or the suffering of others.”

  • OpenAI utilizes safeguards that prevent the generation of “violent, adult, or hateful content.”

  • OpenAI/DALL-E 3 “has mitigations to decline requests that ask for a public figure by name” and is “designed to decline requests that ask for an image in the style of a living artist.”

You can read more about OpenAI’s safety practices here. If you are updating an existing image, we use Flux Kontext to restyle it. Flux Kontext follows usage policies similar to OpenAI’s. You can read more about Flux Kontext’s Usage Policy here.

Additional third-party features, such as Canva, may use additional third-party AI providers. Check with Canva or the individual provider for more information on these provider’s safeguards and policies.

When I try to generate an image, I receive an error message. Why?

Both Linktree and OpenAI have a number of safety measures in place to ensure that the content generated meets our guidelines. These measures may produce error messages on occasion. If you receive an error message, try utilizing a different prompt.

Who owns the link thumbnail images I create?

As stated in OpenAI’s IP terms, as between you and OpenAI, and to the extent permitted by law, you own the Output. If you’d like to better investigate your options regarding copyright of an image you’ve generated, please consult an attorney.

How do I report content that might violate Linktree’s Community Standards or Terms and Conditions?

You can report Linktree's, links, and other content on our Report a Violation page.
