Part 1: Digital Wayfinding Screens

Image 1 shows the current fixed physical signboard that guides commuters during day-to-day operations. However, this may be less useful during train service disruptions. We are exploring replacing these signboards with digital screens. Under normal operations, the screens will continue to display information similar to that in image 1 to guide commuters to the various destinations within/around the MRT station. During train service disruptions, the screens will be changed to display directions to bridging bus points and/or another serviceable MRT line.

Below are two possible designs for displaying colour-coded directional arrows to guide commuters to the bridging bus points.

Part 2: Flashing LED Directional Arrows

Flashing LED Directional Arrows can help capture commuters’ attention and guide them to the bridging bus points during train service disruptions. They will only be turned on during such disruptions.

Part 3: Informative Digital Screens in Stations

These screens will display the train service status similar to LTA’s Train Status Webpage, as well as specific information regarding any train service disruption. The manner in which disruption information is displayed will depend on whether the station is within the affected sector and other factors such as the extent/severity of the disruption.     Real-time status updates on the train status, details on any train service delay/disruptions/planned service adjustments, and/or alternative travel options may be shown on the screens.     The following are the examples showed earlier during the walkthrough.

Part 5: Permanent Bridging Bus Point Sign

Permanent Bridging Bus Point Signs can help regular commuters familiarise themselves with the designated bus stops. In the event of a train service disruption, these well-informed commuters can make their way directly to the bridging bus points. The signs will also help commuters who are unfamiliar with the area identify the bridging bus points more easily.
