A TV anime adaptation of The Lonely Snow Widow and the Cursed Ring has been announced. And no, for those in the know, it’s not going to be that kind of anime.
They say that those who interact with snow women are destined for sorrow. Described as “a slightly clumsy and thrilling romantic comedy,” the anime is about a shy snow woman, Yukino, who had lost her husband, and Kaede, a demon shrine maiden.
The Lonely Snow Widow was originally an adult doujinshi written by Puuzaki Puuna. While doujins getting adaptations into H-anime isn’t anything new, the author of Lonely Snow Widow said this might be the first adult doujin adapted straight to TV without prior commercialization.
The author also posted a full celebratory message saying:
The Lonely Snow Widow has been adapted into a TV anime! Thank you so much!
…TV? Not an OVA!? Many of you might be thinking that, but as the original author, I’m the most surprised of all…! There’s no doubt that this work has been able to grow this much thanks to the support of all you fans!
I was involved in supervising even the finest details for this anime adaptation, and thanks to the director, staff, and voice actors who worked so diligently with me, it has truly become a wonderful production.
The TV series includes plot developments that differ from the original work as well as original stories, so I believe fans will enjoy it even more!
I’m personally very excited to finally see Yukino and Kaede move and speak! Please look forward to it, everyone!
Currently, the original doujin manga has two full-color volumes and both have been localized by Idori Comics into English, with a slightly different name The Shy Snow Woman and the Cursed Ring.
