The "via" indicator on the STIS, introduced in , is one of the most important directional cues shown for loop services. What does it actually indicate?

On the Anticlockwise Loop from CC6 Stadium to CC13 Serangoon, the STIS shows "via CC9 Paya Lebar". Let's see why: tracing anticlockwise from CC6 Stadium, the next two stations are CC7 Mountbatten and CC8 Dakota — neither is an interchange.
