Yes: billionaires and incels and MAGA WANT to be angry, they want to be aggrieved, and if you try to talk them out of their grievance, they will neatly elude you and find new reasons.
The uncomfortable part is realizing that these kinds of people aren't categorically distinct from ourselves.

This is where the whole, male anger / inceldom stems from being politically neglected / economically deprived / societally disenfranchised thing falls apart. They're the most privileged subsect of society and they're full of *hate*

And look, I'm not even going to say some of these people don't have colorable grievances (well, maybe not the billionaires). But the grievances aren't the source of their anger: they're the pretext for it. Address one grievance and they'll seek out another.
Again, lessons here for the rest of us.
Being angry isn't a bad feeling, if you think the anger is justified! It's a good feeling!
Give people a reason to be angry and strip away any guilt they have about it, and it's like giving them heroin. Many keep coming back for more, addicted to the adrenalized thrill of it.
Anyone who has spent even an hour reading Steam fourms quickly learns that many young or middle-aged males are actively searching for new sources of aggrivement. Often among products/games they have no actual interest in.
Satisfy all my aggrievement needs by hating Russia. Can't they too?

I certainly don’t begrudge people left of me and with alternative perspectives, but it is undeniable that for many it’s just many to be a social club and social cudgel in equal parts

Yes they are different. They are extreme Authoritarian Followers. That is the difference.
Middle class people vote based on culture/values. Working class people do too, most of the time. Billionaires have even less need to care about material conditions.
being mad that you aren't given the fealty that you believe you are due by virtue of being a rich white man and being mad that the government and elites are using technology to eradicate any last vestiges of freedom as we understand it are actually pretty different!
