TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibers are naturally soft and smooth to the touch
Under a microscope, TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibers exhibit a smooth surface, which give fabrics a pleasant softness. Additionally, the soft fibers bring fluidity to fabrics to make them drape beautifully.
Published studies using the Tactile Sensation Analyzer (TSA) and Fabric Touch Tester (FTT) as measuring devices have confirmed the softness of fabrics made of TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibers.
Despite the availability of several instrumental options to measure softness, human handfeel remains the ultimate reference. Indeed, human handfeel is very complex and is difficult to replicate using physical measurement methods. Therefore, the testing of softness always combines the evaluations of a human panel as well as instrumental testing methods.
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are unfavorable to odor-causing bacteria (Note: applicable to markets except China)
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers have natural moisture-regulating properties. Water absorbed inside the fiber structure is not available for the bacteria on the fiber surface. The decreased moisture level on the fiber surface provides an unfavorable environment for odor-causing bacteria types, which are mostly sensitive to moisture content.
Tests have been conducted with the most common odor-causing bacteria (Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Corynebacterium jeikeium), and the studies confirm that these bacteria show lower growth rates on fabrics made of TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers. The odor reduction in comparison to synthetic fibers is confirmed by studies with user groups.

TENCEL™ Modal fibers support long-lasting softness
TENCEL™ Modal fibers’ cross-section and tenacity favor fabric softness, allowing them to withstand repeated washing and drying cycles. Following recommended wash and care instructions helps retain the softness of your textile products. Additionally, air-drying textile products made of TENCEL™ fibers can further prolong their product life.
