The talk about Flatpak at LAS leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Will systemd-appd be mandatory for Flatpak v1? If not, will it be for Flatpak v2?

Nobody has actually given any answers about this.

@thomholwerda flatpak v1 will probably be left alone

@tragivictoria @thomholwerda I wouldn't be so sure. See the LAS talk, appd is a Flatpak v1 thing, we quite literally say so.

But it's all entirely completely moot to talk about when we haven't written a single line of code. Frankly before the Fedi dog pile I was planning to be super considerate of the non systemd use case. But I just saw someone literally accusing us of being Lunduke allies.

So pardon me but I'm not feeling inclined to spend my time on that shit anymore. Not worth it

@AdrianVovk @thomholwerda sorry, admittedly i didn't watched them yet! I stand corrected

@AdrianVovk @tragivictoria @thomholwerda "I will fart on every non-majority linux system component because of internet flamewar" read it loudly

@speaktrap @AdrianVovk @thomholwerda you're not the one getting shitted at because of this.

@tragivictoria @speaktrap @AdrianVovk @thomholwerda

i've been called a fascist (and a "lunduke ally" too) multiple times (and to be clear, i am neither), for being "anti-systemd" and nothing else -- as much as is sucks, there's idiots and grifters on both "sides" of this

most people that use non-systemd systemd and were complaining are not those kind of people though

@AdrianVovk
please don't take those people to be representative of the general crowd. Im sorry they are like that. Thank you for your work, im sure many other people in/using guix are very grateful for it.
Hopefully more people will come out in appreciation of the teams effort.

It does make me wonder about the benefit of abstract protocols for init systems.

@vepr_jako_pepr
I also came here from osnews.com/story/145071/flatpa and want to apologize for these people. While I'm a happy systemd user and would probably not be affected, I think best distro compatibility is indeed a good advantage of .

Also: they do not speak for the majority!
