Formerly Snowflake Obsidian, now Diorite. :)So I reworked the plot of him being ‘resurrected’ as it were, and instead of his gem being put back together using a growth agent, I decided to use Kintsugi. (For those too lazy or unable to click the link, it’s the japanese art of fixing gems/pottery with gold. Or…technically a resin w/ powdered gold/silver/copper/platinum/etc. I would’ve used silver, but it just seemed to get lost in his color scheme. :\ )It goes w/ his whole japanese aesthetic, & I thought pre-corruption Black Diamond/Skeleton King using (non-sentient at the time) gold to bind gems back together would be a good gateway method into him eventually melting down sentient gems to combine them after he’s been corrupted. (Leading to gem!Clone Mandarin’s existence in this AU)Also, an explanation as to why his form’s ‘skin’ got slightly lighter: While his gem was bonded back together, it’s still technically broken, so outside light leaks into his form a little. With his limb enhancers (the sold pink bits in the far-right design in the bottom pic) the colored light they emit when powered up also leak into Diorite’s weakened form. Though keeping him ‘powered up’, said lights make his ‘skin’ appear bluish or pinkish. When completely powered down, there’s no extra light & the enhancers just go black, which leads to Diorite retreating into his gem.
