Carcasses are Supreme Husks first introduced in R-1: CARCASS as a boss, and are the first unique Husk-class enemy and the very first new enemy that the player encounters in ULTRAKILL: Project Purgatorio.
They are large husks with a tesseract-shaped head. Their skin is marked with bloody seam lines, and they are visually similar to the Flesh Prison and
Flesh Panopticon.
Behavior

Carcass will towards it's target and attempt to keep a consistent distance, moving away if it's target gets too close. Upon spawning, Carcasses spawn 3 eye spawn minions which hover closely around it. These spawns boast 2 health each, and respawn periodically. On difficulties Violent and above, Carcass enrages if all eye spawns are killed.
If a Carcass has taken damage, and it's eye spawns have been alive for a time, it will kill it's spawn, healing itself for each minion still alive at the time of healing.
Carcasses, despite their size, are also agile. And will maneuver around or out of the way of projectiles like the Core Eject Shotgun's cores, or Shotgun's pellets.
Additionally, Carcasses will enrage if either all of their spawn are killed prior to healing or if it reaches 50% or lower HP. During this phase, they will move much more frequently and erratically, and pursuing the player opposed to its usual tactics.
If whiplashed from too far of a distance, a Carcass can bite off the whiplash. Detaching it from itself and rendering it unusable for a few seconds.
The variant of the Carcass found within the ThunderStore mod will begin spasming upon death, shooting shards of white light out of itself before exploding (dealing no damage) and temporarily slowing the game in a fashion similar to Minos Prime's death.
Attacks
Homing Orbs
Carcass will begin vibrating violently before shooting a total of 3 hell seeker projectiles from itself. Each deals 30 damage and can be parried. Carcasses encountered via the ThunderStore mod will instead fire 4 of these projectiles, and repeat the attack 3 times in a row.
Mortar Spiral
Carcass will leap across the air in a spiral motion, similar to that of a ballerina's performance, and then proceed to fire 4 arching hell mortars out from the top of its head upon reaching its destination. Each mortar deals 40 to 60 damage depending on the players distance from the explosion, and can be parried.
Black Hole
Variants of the Carcasses found within the ThunderStore mod have the unique ability of being able to summon black holes on Brutal and above. It is unparriable, and deals 10 damage along with 99 hard damage, temporarily limiting the players health to 1.
Healing Circle
At any time, even during other attacks, a Carcass can summon a tracking circle beneath the player. Upon stepping on it, the circles sprite will change, and 6 holes with hands will emerge. Each hole goes along a path adjacent to the players trajectory. Each hand deals 10 damage, and heals the Carcass slightly. Neither the hands nor the summoning can be parried.
Spawn
Either upon its summoning, after healing, or after having some killed, a Carcass can spawn a total of 3 mini-eyes (similar to that of the Flesh Prison's). Each spawn has 2 HP, and can utilize a laser attack that deals 15 damage. The laser cannot be parried, but can be ricocheted off of a
Coins, giving the + CHARGEBACK style bonus.
Heal
The Carcass is also capable of healing itself. Either by killing all of its active eye spawn and using each to heal itself slightly (it should be noted that this will not enrage it, despite having all of its spawn dead) before respawning them, or by dealing damage to the player in the form of its healing circle attack.
Strategy
The Carcass is a tanky, but large enemy. Using high damage combos can be extremely useful, but costly. Weapons like the Screwdriver Railcannon can provide quick and high damage. Additionally things like the Jumpstart nailgun's electric cable combined with the Saw blade launcher's saws can deal high damage for a relatively low cost. However, a combo of Shotgun swapping and
Knuckleblaster punches can also prove deadly, although the duration of this combo is prolonged, it is inexpensive.
Because of its capability to avoid things like the whiplash or cannonballs, it is suggested to get close to the Carcass while it is in an animation (such as summoning the hell seekers) before utilizing the whiplash to get even closer, allowing the use of the S.R.S. Cannon's Cannonballs or the Impact Hammer's full charge hits.

Harmless
- Does not enrage when below 50% HP. (Also applies for Lenient)
Violent
- Enrages when all eye spawn are killed.
Brutal
- Is capable of summoning a black hole via the 'black hole' attack. (Only applies for the ThunderStore variant)
Terminal Entry

While it’s extremely rare to find a husk powerful enough to become a prime soul, it’s not uncommon for lesser husks to find their undoing in such power.
A Carcass is the result of a prime soul that has failed to fully develop, resulting in what can be called “a portable flesh prison”. While its power greatly surpasses that of lesser husks, it is still very dependent on its physical body to the point that it would instantly disintegrate without it.
The surgical markings on its body shows that an attempt was made to contain its energy, instead it is left in an irreversible berzerk state. However, trapped in such a situation, the Carcass has adapted to its power and is able to mimic most of a normal flesh prison’s abilities. Additionally it is able to partially manifest itself at a distance by using a ritualistic pentagram.
STRATEGY:
- Once unleashed, Carcass's summoning circle will activate after making contact with its target. Upon the circle's activation, Carcass will attempt to drain and re-purpose the life energy of the target by manifesting part of itself below them. When the circle becomes active, it will emit a bright light and its symbols will change shape. The manifestations can be avoided by remaining in the air, out of their reach.
- Carcass will manifest eyes to assist them in battle. While the eyes may serve well as healing, if all of the eyes are destroyed it will cause Carcass to become enraged. Typically Carcass will avoid close range combat. When enraged, it will charge and pursue you with all of its strength.Teeny Carcass
Teeny Carcass is a mini version of carcass that can be found in R-2 Its attacks are similar to that of the normal attacks for Carcass but are changed to fit its tiny form and the arena more.

Trivia
- The name "Carcass" is a reference to the boss of the same name in Cry Of Fear[1]
- Carcass was originally designed by Rem_Phase02 while feeling nostalgic for the mood of games like Cry Of Fear, and was not made with Rubicon or Purgatorio in mind.[2]
- Carcass' head was smaller in the concept art, but was made bigger when modelled.[3]
- For whatever reason, if the player has the "Healthbars" mod by EladNLG and a Regular Carcass appears, there's a chance the Health Bar will be partially filled as 50/80 instead of 50/50, likely unintentionally referencing the amount of HP the Boss Variant of Carcass has.
- Tied in with the "Healthbars" mod, if manually spawned or encountered in the Cybergrind, the Carcasses present will not have a visible health bar, but it will have a visible number floating beside it displaying its current health.
- Despite the death animation of Carcass exploding into blood showing it go everywhere, for some reason this does not actually heal the player. (Hopefully this gets fixed when Carcass gets a revamp)
- Carcass has actually appeared outside of Project Purgatorio a few times in other custom levels. Most notably in "Where The Streets Have No Name."
