I think it is more about gating the experience. I think it's bad game design to not allow anyone in late game to experience whatever play style they'd want to try without investing a year's worth of play time to optimize a set up. I dunno. Maybe it'll be different when I get my driftsmelts better and feel more comfortable on 10 star content solo. But currently it feels so bad to me to feel punished if try something new.
