PARCHMAN, Miss. (WTVA) — Overnight storms damaged part of the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.

A unit suffered roof damage, but the Mississippi Department of Corrections reported no injuries.

Jailers relocated some inmates to other parts of the prison until repairs can be made.

The prison, simply known as Parchman, is the state’s oldest. It’s located in the Mississippi Delta and houses 2,542 beds, including death row.
