On the use of the trademarks "Comic Market" "Comike" "Comiket" in news reporting

To All Those Concerned,

Logo of Comiket

In recent years the names "Comic Market," "Comiket," and "Comike" have been seen used to describe global doujinshi, manga, anime, game and other events in combination with the location, such as "Comic Market of XXX", "XX Comike".

However, the names "Comic Market," "Comiket," and "Comike" (written in both Japanese kana characters and the Roman alphabet) are registered trademarks of Comiket Inc.

It is therefore not allowed to use these trademarks or similar names to describe any event that is not affiliated with Comiket Inc. or the Comic Market Committee (hereafter "us"/"we"). It is inappropriate to use trademarks in articles and reporting as if they were commonly used regular terms.

Using trademarks owned by us to describe events not related to us misleads readers into believing we are organizing or supporting such event. It is also inappropriate to disseminate such wrong or inaccurate information about other events and might lead to avoidable confusion.

We therefore ask you not to use the terms "Comic Market," "Comiket," and "Comike" when describing events not directly organized by us.

Sincerely yours,
Comiket Inc.
Comic Market Committee
