Assailants shot a Rohingya leader to death at a camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday evening.
Two other Rohingyas were also injured in the incident, which took place in the Torjar Bridge area around 6:30pm.
The deceased is Kefayet Ullah Halim, a resident of Block-F/2 in Camp-7. He was a leader of the ARO, an organisation of Rohingyas.
The injured are Mohammad Ullah and Nur Mohammad, both residents of the same camp.
According to a statement issued by the Armed Police Battalion-14, assailants opened fire on the trio when they reached the Torjar Bridge area on a motorbike.
The injured were rescued and sent to Kutupalong MSF Hospital, where the on-duty physician declared Kefayet dead. Two others were undergoing treatment at the hospital, the statement added.
Police are conducting drives to arrest the perpetrators.
