This is too much of a coincidence especially when you consider the character is a mad scientist infamous for his human experimentation. This was supposed to be a very dark, un-shonen-like joke that secretly refers to an extremely kinky hentai manga artist.

And unfortunately, Shiga Maruta coincidentally shared some words that can be connected with Unit 731, and the shitstorm began. Shueisha and the author can't explain the real intention behind the name, thus their apologies sound vague, which is pouring fuel on the fire even more.
