Japan is preparing to bring in massive numbers of foreign workers to sustain its economy—and Bangladesh is positioning itself to send hundreds of thousands, if not millions over time, in what looks like a rapidly expanding labor pipeline between the two countries.
According to a report, Bangladesh has significantly ramped up preparations to send workers to Japan under the “Specified Skilled Worker” (SSW) program, as Japan faces an “ongoing labor shortage”.
Japan is aiming to recruit around 820,000 foreign workers across 16 sectors by 2029, with broader estimates suggesting as many as 1.2 million foreign workers could be brought in under multiple programs in the same timeframe.
Long-term projections cited in the same report suggest Japan could require up to 11 million foreign workers by 2040 to keep its economy functioning.
Bangladesh, for its part, isn’t just participating—it’s aiming to dominate a significant portion of that pipeline. Officials and experts believe the country could supply up to 40% of Japan’s near-term labor demand, which would translate to over 300,000 workers, with even more possible in the long run.
The Bangladeshi government is actively restructuring its workforce system to meet Japan’s needs, expanding training programs, upgrading technical training centers, and heavily investing in Japanese language education.
In a separate report, Bangladeshi leadership openly expressed interest in exporting more manpower to Japan, particularly in sectors like healthcare and agriculture—areas where Japan is experiencing acute shortages.
Bangladesh is increasing student migration targets as well, aiming to send thousands more students to Japan, who can then transition into the workforce.
All of this comes as Japan increasingly relies on foreign labor to offset its demographic crisis. The country already has millions of foreign workers, and the number has been steadily rising over the past decade as domestic workforce shortages worsen.
Naturally, this is a complete disaster, as it is third-worlders such as those from Bangladesh who are responsible for the recent surge in crime and crude behavior that has been occurring in Japan.

I would much rather prefer japan embrance full AI and robots instead. maybe they can be the forefront to develop a chobit-like companion robot. that’s a much better future than japan being horribly stained turd brown
You don’t even know what a Bangladesh is
MOZELTOV!!!!
JAPAN’S GOING TO BE FULLY OBEDIENT TO OUR AGENDA!!!
OY VEY!
When first world countries start to import foreigners its just a bandied to a problem that the country hasnt fixed or refuse to fix. And lets be real it only benefit the corporations (got to get that public traded stock up). Either way they will eventually be replaced with A.I when given the opportunity.
SSW 1 workers. 5 years then they go home, only 3% get SSW 2 and .9% of that get permanent residency or citizenship.
Everytime the elite of a country takes a detrimental decision for the common folk just to guarantee the preservation of the hegemony (meaning the power of the elite), they always juggle the narrative, saying that “[insert country name here]” is doing “[x thing].”
The common people didn’t took those decision, it was their owners.
