Orgel's Second Rule: 'Evolution is cleverer than you are.'
Anyone who believes fungi are not the dominant life forms on this planet hasn't been looking carefully!
Some organism eats feces. Some organism eats cadavers. Nothing eats spent nuclear fuel rods. Nothing eats spent batteries. Now, I ask you, which animal is the most intelligent one on the planet?
Yep. Whenever someone says humans are the most intelligent animals, all I hear is an insecure primate bragging.
Good economics understands the immense wealth which natural ecosystems generate and factors them into any ideas of growth. Bad economics thinks there's a magic money tree but bulldozes all the real ones
Totally true. Humans are just a quick virus in the planet who never went beyond burning things. The planet will go on, as probably many others in a never ending, never reachable universe(s)
The age of rapid oxidizers, scooting across the surface of this Goldilocks planet on our butts.
But yet we do (bulldoze them). The latest disgrace being the Indian grounds destroyed for President Asshole's wall. I want those spirits to be at rest, but - if not - let them haunt everyone in this administration and the Heritage 2025 people. GO...
Humans are literally the only species on the planet that contribute nothing to the well-being of the planet. We destroy what all other species have spent millions of years protecting and creating
Capitalism is exploitation. Until the capitalists understand this, the rape of the earth will continue. Seeing everything as a commodity is a sickness.
Humanity for the most part suffers from the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Everything turns out to be normally distributed
True. But that will get in the way of their greed.
Humans are not individually intelligent. What intelligence there is, is collective. So, we only gain as individuals and progress as communities through sharing and cooperation.
The many gifts of Mother Nature. The wind and the sun. Only a fool would turn their back on the natural gifts Earth is blessed with.
Never forget that B movie actor and star of Bedtime for Bonzo Reagan DESTROYED the solar panels that Pres. Carter put up at the WH.
We need to develop technology that doesn’t try to make nature our bitch, but learns from nature and build technology that works with it, not against it.
Intelligence is knowing tomato is a fruit. Knowledge is not putting it in a fruit salad.
I would suggest that Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, and Intelligence is not putting it in a fruit salad.
Even benevolent scientists can get so chuffed and self congratulatory about being able to figure out (and describe mathematically) what nature is already doing
Humans are inherently egotistical and violent
Every other thing in this world was a resultant purpose of evolution … man comes along and undoes it all … which begs the question ‘why are we here?’ …
Look what big Corporate Agriculture has done to our soil. They have compromised our food chain, without repressions because Congresspeople are tainted by excepting campaign contributions. If you want clean soil, go to Europe.
Agree. Have you read “Ishmael” by Daniel Quinn? The novel and his other books provide insights as to why we think our lifestyle is unparalleled yet destroy the foundations of life to live. youtu.be/j72RINAQ-ZQ?...
It’s all about an even combination and replanting trees somewhere other than where trees are taken down. Gotta control the environment but keep it alive. Same goes for population too many will always be a problem. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Agree 100% and yet humans want to destroy the world because of the greed of people that have too much money in the first place !
All of those systems mentioned have undergone millions of years of evolution to reach their current state. We ought to be learning from them; however, humans have never been known for their patience.
How does anybody actually know that?
Nearly every anti-biotic that helps against super germs is found...by look at dirt.
good point, there are different types of intelligence and many forget it
Those things take time, and that would affect quarterly earnings reports. Chemicals keep the investors happy NOW.
Exactly but try explaining that to the buffoons in charge
Whenever we see something new our first thought is kill it.
Words of wisdom, will humans ever follow suit?
As a society should be investing in Environmental and Biological Sciences, not AI and Computer Science for Capitalism
Agreed, imagine if humanity would focus on blending nature and science together, there would be no limit to what we can accomplish we could actually become Type 1 or 2 civilization and actually make good use of all the solar systems resources and maybe the Universe as well!🌌🌎😎
That's all well and good but no disrespect to this post. That doesn't meant s*** if we don't give Democrats the power to change things by ensuring we vote them in at the local, state and federal levels. GOP doesn't give a f about anything but pleasing Trump and Trump doesn't give a f about that.
Basically we are behaving like every other species, breed up to the environmental carrying capacity then suffer a massive population collapse when there is a bad season or two or environmental conditions changes. But we should see it coming.
Violent men have lied and made intelligent men weak for centuries. Now all we have are weak mediocre violent men.
Absolutely 💯 Stupid humans & their nonsense Patriarchal systems
The problem, of course, is that none of those things are profitable. Green pieces of paper are more important than clean air and water.
We have the power ! The working class owns all the power, yet we have no representation. We've all had rather enough of ol' drumpfy, his greedy family and minions, and the rethuglycans. Time for our DEMANDS ! get loud; then get louder! Call ! Write ! Take action ! bsky.app/profile/unte...

So, what do we want? When do we want it? We, the people, have waited long enough, and we have had enough. Call Congress; DEMAND immediate change. theuntenuredprofessor.wordpress.com/wp-admin/pos...
We're the only species on this rock that pays to exist yet we insist we're the "top". Go figure.
please dont call this hokey if we could only mimic these processes
My hands reach through the soft soil I’ve built over years to find good growth everywhere.
During the carboniferous period, there were no fungi to break down the organic matter. There weren't enough animals to convert the oxygen to CO. The atmosphere became toxic with oxygen.
So, include each human being on the planet equally in a globally standard process of fixed cost money creation?
That's.. just an organism doing what it always does..? That's not intelligence, it's just a repeated function, it's not even conscious?? 😬 Do you know how many crazy functions the human body has, too? Way more complexities than trees and fungi combined when you look at the capabilities of the brain.
We act like a bacterium feeding on its host.
If we were intelligent we would do intelligent things and get intelligent results. We're power hungry, never satisfied and clever with our hands
same with the animals/species supremacy. Most animals and insects do things from the minute they are born that we could never achieve on our own. Yet we tell ourselves we are "more advanced" and therefore allowed to exploit them.
What a fabulous quote! Thank you! 🙏
Once it’s gone only then will they understand they can’t eat $$$
Bacteria don't need to invent aircraft to travel. Just use the oh so "intelligent" humans.
I got a package of generic Tylenol from Amazon today. It was sealed in a small plastic bag. There was something written on the bag about "This bag is lighter than our lightest box!" I can recycle or reuse their lightest box....
They can't make themselves rich doing it.
The moment the majority of humanity stopped living in harmony with Nature and began working to dominate and enslave it is when our future was poisoned. 🌍
Viruses have been exchanging genetic material for millions of years.
Nature is to be learned from, not exploited.
And don't even get me started on beavers! 🤣
In a similar way we have much to learn from our forebears who treated all sorts of ailments well before modern drugs were invented.
The simplest answers are the most relevant!
Tell that to old, pockmarked, white guys wearing red hats and a scowl as you walk by.
Whew! Love this. And I don't know source yet, cool! The name sounds West African, maybe Nigerian?
LinkedIn is for everyone, hahaha. Cameroon! Close but still off. It is worth looking him up and checking out his work--started off as a teacher- figures!
Well depending on how you look at it: Our Curse is that being humble requires a lot of work.[from humanity.]
Life has evolved to perpetuate itself and we are living in that result. If we screw up that delicate balance we risk the consequences. Life will do what it can to continue, with or without us. We are less relevant than we like to believe.
Exactly. Wastewater treatment is patterned after nature to reduce/remove pollutants w/in 5 days. The Potomac River was highly polluted in the early seventies. Thanks to the clean water act regulations were put into place to protect our rivers and streams.
Good share. Tangwa Abilu is wise indeed.
We call ourselves "intelligent," yet the humblest fungus can decompose waste and build soil, a tree can harness solar energy, and a wetland can purify water-all without toxic byproducts. True intelligence is learning from these systems, not bulldozing them. THE HUMAN ANIMAL IS A MISTAKE
What have humans done for the earth?
ABSOFAIRYLUTLEY 💥💥💥💥
We are good at living in our own shit that we make, though ;)
So the level above dirt that breaks shit down into dirt, got it.
