CARTHAGE, Miss. (WTOK) - Leake County School District announced a strategic realignment of its schools designed to better serve students and strengthen the community.

The district will merge its two high schools to expand academic offerings, enhance extracurricular opportunities, and provide students with greater access to advanced coursework, career pathways, and support services. The transition will combine resources, talent, and programs to increase efficiency while elevating student achievement.

As part of the realignment, 6th through 8th grade students will transition to the junior high campus, creating a more focused and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports both academic growth and leadership development during middle school years.

The district is also relocating one of its elementary schools into a stronger, more modern facility that will provide an improved learning environment for students. The move ensures students have access to updated spaces that support safety, innovation, and academic excellence.

The decisions were made with a focus on long-term sustainability, educational excellence, and opportunity for every child. The realignment aligns with the district’s vision to graduate critical thinkers with the skills and knowledge to succeed in life.

District officials said the changes position the district for a stronger, unified future centered on student success.
