Genuine carbon ceramic disc rotors 🔥🔥🔥
Had these on the bike for the last week, having a blast putting them through their paces!
So these aren't just a carbon resin mix with some ceramic particles added, these are legitimate carbon-fiber-reinforced silicon carbide (C/SiC) rotors, produced via liquid silicon infiltration.
You might be familiar with rotors of this material used in motorsport, and probably like me, assume they need to be brought up to temperate before they reach optimal braking performance. Not the case with these.
Talking with the company Carbonova, they've worked to produce a rotor and proprietary brake pad compound that offers great bite from cold.
The rotors are an INCREDIBLY hard material, and the bedding in process basically amounts to lapping the rotor smooth. Performance has been really promising so far, but still some more testing to do.
The main benefits are obviously a VERY high ceiling on brake fade, and the rotors are incredibly lightweight. From testing, they are also very quiet, and the modulation is fantastic!
Price tbc, but C/SiC rotors are NOT easy to produce, so expect to pay a premium...
SUCH a cool bit of tech, and I've gotta admit, they look pretty sick!
