The Trump administration’s Department of Justice published a bombshell report Thursday which documented how the Biden administration targeted Christians, infringed upon their constitutionally-protected religious rights and misconstrued Christian doctrine to push its radical leftwing agenda.
“Religion and morality have been inextricably intertwined with the American system of government from the beginning. Christian beliefs, in conjunction with contemporary political and intellectual thought and economic realities, influenced colonial settlers and the decision to overthrow tyranny and pursue inalienable rights during the Revolutionary War. Most critically, faith informed the structure and contents of the United States Constitution, its amendments, and contemporary state constitutions. The Nation’s origin and system of government bear the imprint of a Christian worldview and ethic, even as its laws strive to protect religious pluralism,” the report said. “Unfortunately, in recent years, some political leaders and policymakers have viewed Christianity and similar religious traditions as an impediment or even an enemy to their policy goals. When Christian views on morality and human nature conflicted with the Biden Administration’s views, religious rights often suffered. This infringement of religious rights was a negative externality of the Biden Administration’s dogged advocacy on matters of deep personal importance to nearly every American: life, family, marriage, and self-identity.”
The 200-page report analyzed findings from 17 intelligence agencies and concluded that “the Biden administration penalized Christians who lived in accordance with their beliefs.”
The Biden administration is said to have infringed upon Christian’s beliefs in the areas of life, family, marriage, self-identity, education, medical decisions and other topics with its radical Leftist agenda.
14 key examples were provided which document these claims:
- The Biden DOJ pursued aggressive prosecutions against non-violent, pro-life, Christian demonstrators under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act but responded less aggressively to violent attacks against pregnancy resource centers.
- The Biden Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigated, monitored, tracked, and scrutinized traditional Catholics who had engaged in no criminal misconduct.
- The Biden Internal Revenue Service (IRS) investigated churches because of what their pastors preached and Christian organizations because they applied biblical teachings to daily life.
- The Biden Department of Education (ED) focused its enforcement actions against Christian universities, levying enormous fines that dwarfed the penalties for Larry Nassar’s and Jerry Sandusky’s sexual assaults.
- The Biden Health and Human Services (HHS) and DOJ scaled back ongoing enforcement efforts to vindicate conscience rights, withdrawing a notice of violation against the University of Vermont Medical Center after it coerced a Christian nurse into participating in an abortion despite her religious objections.
- The Biden Administration was one of the loudest supporters of a congressional proposal that would eliminate religious protections for Christians and other religions that hold traditional social values.
- Even though Congress rejected a similar attempt, the Biden Administration tried to mandate the adoption of its views on sexual orientation and gender ideology, with limited religious exceptions.
- Because it viewed traditional Christian values as harmful to children with gender dysphoria or same-sex attraction, the Biden HHS took multiple steps to prevent Christian families from living out their religious beliefs.
- The Biden Administration took a dismissive approach to conscience rights and religious accommodation rights on the issue of abortion.
- The Biden Administration sidelined Christians in favor of their preferred constituencies.
- The Biden Administration ignored human rights crises that affected Christians.
- The Biden Administration denied Christians and faith-based organizations equal access to government services, benefits, and programs.
- Biden agencies’ religious accommodation process often functionally penalized Christians who sought to exercise their religious rights.
- The Biden Administration regulated and suppressed religious speech that it did not like and curtailed Christians’ ability to jointly worship and study the Bible.
The report summarized the United States’ European origin which forms the basis for its Western Christian values.
“During the early stages of the American colonies, England was engaged in ‘chronic religious strife and intolerance.’ The Church of England was the state-established church, and the government suppressed both other forms of Protestantism and Roman Catholicism by restricting the religious rights of those outside the Church of England. When a king confessing the faith of the Church of England was deposed, Protestant dissenters, wielding the power of the State, rewrote statements of doctrine, confiscated religious property, and restructured the Church itself. Those in power imprisoned pastors from other denominations. They removed ministers from clerical office who used the wrong prayer books. When power shifted back after the monarchy was restored, Parliament reinstituted the Church of England and imposed religious tests to hold office or serve in the military. Even after Parliament passed the Toleration Act, ending the de jure persecution of religious dissenters, Anglicans continued to hold a favored position,” the report said.
A major aspect of American liberty is written into the First Amendment of its Bill of Rights – religious freedom – arising out of America’s Christian background. These constitutional protections are what the Biden administration trampled upon, according to the report.
“Freedom of religion is fundamental under the United States Constitution. It appears in the First Amendment, guaranteeing that ‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.’ Faith, particularly Christianity, had a significant influence on America’s colonial origins, the text of the Declaration of Independence, and the formation and ratification of the U.S. Constitution,” the report said.
The DOJ report also explained how the Biden administration misconstrued Christian beliefs to push its policy agendas.
The Trump administration is working resolve the government weaponization against Christians with a number of actions that include:
- The Trump Justice Department is protecting parental rights by rescinding the Garland Memo and taking legal actions to protect students, including a lawsuit to stop the Loudoun County School District from unlawfully forcing gender ideology on students who have sincerely held religious beliefs on marriage and human sexuality.
- The Trump Justice Department has restored law and order by rescinding the Biden Bostock memo. As a result, all people of faith may once again freely exercise their faith.
- The Trump Justice Department is protecting religious liberty in the federal workplace by issuing an Office of Legal Counsel opinion affirming religious liberty protections for federal employees, which include accommodation requests.
- The Trump Justice Department is ending the weaponization of the FACE Act by protecting houses of worship from violence and threats under the FACE Act.
- The Trump Justice Department is protecting religious congregations from discrimination under RLUIPA.
- The Civil Rights Division has filed statements of interest supporting faith communities in RLUIPA cases across the country.
“No American should live in fear that the federal government will punish them for their faith,” acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, Chair of the Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias said Thursday. “As our report lays out, the Biden administration’s actions devastated the lives of many Christian Americans. That devastation ended with President Trump. The Department of Justice will continue to expose bad actors who targeted Christians and work tirelessly to restore religious liberty for all Americans of faith.”
