United Expands Lyft Partnership, Letting Members Redeem Miles for Rides

Airlines have turned to partnerships in recent years to boost their loyalty programs as they focus more on high-spend travelers. Loyalty programs and high premium demand have fueled much of the industry’s profits since the pandemic.

Members of United’s loyalty program will now be able to redeem rides on Lyft using their frequent flyer miles as part of an expansion of the partnership between the two companies.

Users who have already linked their United MileagePlus accounts to the Lyft app will be able to use the redemptions on all ride types, including premium options. Miles can be used to redeem the full cost of a ride or users can pay for rides with a combination of miles and
