Never actually read it just want the credits to get a comic looks ok tho

Fortunately, this issue is better than the last one. Unfortunately, it only reaches the highs of issue 1, in that it has nice, solid artwork weighed down by significant problems in its writing, pacing, and narrative structure.

Actually, "nice" may not be a completely fair assessment - Jo Mi-Gyeong creates at least one genuinely strikingly composed panel (N's big emotional moment with Uzi while they're freefalling, both of them mirroring each other extremely effectively) in addition to her consistently good splash pages. While her expression work is a bit less varied than I would like, it's not as bad as it was in the last issue. That said, there is at least one panel that frankly seemed very lackluster to me: right at the bottom of page 14 (as Uzi looks out of the cabin after realizing she's eating her classmates' entrails). There's a strange lack of depth in the drawing - the "snow"-covered foreground looks like it's directly below the background instead of being in front of it. (Given its placement, I suspect this may be a case where there simply wasn't enough room on the page to sell the depth better.) Also, the original episode (and the series as a whole, really) relies on ambient lighting or lack thereof to establish mood - for instance, heavy blues in the outdoors scenes to make them seem desolate and melancholy. While this sometimes results in scenes feeling improperly lit - I missed at least one detail in my first viewing because it was too dark to see - the comic downplays or omits it altogether, which ends up making many emotionally-charged moments feel flatter and less engaging.

As for the writing, it still suffers from many of the previous issues' problems. Many scenes are trimmed down or cut out, which often removes flavor, character development, and/or emotional impact (more on that in a bit). A lot of lines are given slight rewrites, which at times is harmless but at other times ends up feeling kind of overwritten. (The writer's attempts to emulate Liam Vickers' sense of humor still don't capture his voice very well.)

There is one pervasive problem new to this issue, however: an abundance of exposition-heavy dialogue. Sometimes this is an understandable attempt to reinsert important details that were cut out in their original form - for example, instead of Khan explicitly handing Uzi her mother's choker at the start of the issue, here he says "Here... this choker used to be your mother's" while showing it in Uzi's hand. I can't say I'm thrilled at this direction, but given the circumstances the production team were working under I can't blame them for taking this route. Unfortunately, at other times the dialogue feels completely unnecessary, to the point it frankly threatens to cheapen the story's impact by flying in the face of "show, don't tell." For instance, the original show has a joke where the keybug shows Uzi various options in a menu, one of which is "register torture chamber complaint." Here, she responds (in part) with "Torture chamber?!", ruining the gag by explicitly pointing it out. What's worse is that whole scenes end up laden with these lines - for example, in the scene where N enters a cabin while searching for Uzi before has a flashback of Solver-possessed Cyn, he talks constantly throughout. (He originally had no lines at all!) There are simply too many instances of characters explaining what they're doing or how they're feeling for my tastes - I honestly think it's one of this issue's most severe flaws.

Now, I haven't talked too much about this in my reviews, but much of the fandom discourse surrounding the comic has focused squarely on its treatment of V in particular. I don't think Wyatt Kennedy has a vendetta against her or anything - really, I think it's the unfortunate intersection of two separate factors:

1. Kennedy was only given 20 pages per issue to start with. Therefore, he had to try and figure out what parts of the story he could cut out without completely jeopardizing the plot, resulting in several smaller and seemingly inessential moments getting the chopping block.

2. V relies on those smaller, understated moments to sell the full depths of her personality, perhaps more than any other character.

The big problem here, of course, is that Murder Drones is the kind of show that subtly (and sometimes not-so-subtly) hinges on these moments to sell its full impact in many ways - foreshadowing future events, reinforcing plot points, hinting at characterization beyond the surface level, and overall drawing the audience into the story. Even if the basic plot is intact (though many would argue that it's not even followable if you're not already a fan), it's not nearly as effective - at times the comic comes across like it's adapting the CliffsNotes. I already talked about this in my review of issue 2, but it continues to exacerbate the original show's bad habit of not taking itself seriously in a way that jars your suspension of disbelief. (Nowhere is this more obvious than in the final panel, where a character literally shouts "To be continued!" for no in-universe reason.)

Getting back to V specifically: throughout the comic thus far, she rarely gets any hints at having a deeper character than just "bloodthirsty jerk." Practically all the moments that help flesh her out are either removed entirely - in this issue alone, her conversation with Uzi early on, her initial, horrified reaction to seeing Uzi spawn a fleshy abomination with the Solver, and various short but meaningful moments during her argument with N & the final scene on the bus were all cut. What's worse, Kennedy rewrites one scene in ways that make her look much less sympathetic: instead of a camper accidentally killing another one with a bow & arrow, then later accidentally firing it at Uzi when startled, here V deliberately kills/attacks them herself. I'd noticed that he seems to lean very hard on her actually being the remorseless killer she tries to present herself as in the early portions of the series, which I think is a significant misstep. (She's not the only one to suffer from questionable writing choices - other scenes with Uzi are altered in a similarly deleterious fashion - but, in the context of the overall series, it reflects even worse on her because so much of her depth was left out.)

As a final aside: I know Oni said they would be expanding each issue with more pages, but only now did I realize that issues 2 & 3 only have 4 more pages of story apiece. If this is all they're going to do on that front, then I must say I'm disappointed.

Oh god. Been a Murder Drones fan for years and this just is NOT it. The horrific mischaracterization, the plot holes, it's just not good. I am honestly dreading the next issues, because I genuinely cannot imagine what they can butcher next. You raised 2 million dollars, and this is the best you could come up with?? I doubt people would mind if more time was spent completely remaking, or at least partially editing the comics so far just so we could get a better adaptation, because this sucks. If this was my first exposure to Murder Drones, I seriously doubt I would enjoy it nearly as much as I do, because this really sucks.

Oni Press... What are you doing???

We are on issue 3 of this thing already and yet their have been no significant improvements to any of the problems people have had to how these issues are written and structured.

I'll give them this, it's definitely a small step up from the last two issues, it's the most understandable of what's going on, but even that's still a problem because the direct exposition is so bad in this one, it relies way to heavily on characters saying out loud how they're feeling or what’s going on instead of the visuals telling the story. Like Uzi's transformation into Solver Uzi was supposed to be so horrific and scary in the show, but here it's boiled down to Uzi saying aloud "I don't feel so good", like that's the best you could portray? Or Uzi and V's confrontation in the cabin, that's such a crucial part of their dynamic and that was just completely cut, which cuts ANOTHER crucial part to V's development, leaving her being portrayed like a jealous Ex?

The art's still pretty, but that's not enough to save this, like even the expressions on these characters sometimes are so blank and nonexistent, that they almost never match the dialogue that's being shown on screen. Overall my expectations for future issues are just no longer their except to just see the pretty visuals. My advice is you should start making it 2-3 issues adapting one episode and not sometimes trying to adapt 2 episodes an ISSUE

A significant step up from the previous issues, and dare I say an almost perfect adaptation of episode 4 from the show! There are a couple of moments from the show that are missing here, so inevitably some of the extra emotional weight behind the character's actions is lost. But generally speaking, it's the best and most faithful issue so far, and while it doesn't fully shake off the character and story flaws from earlier issues, it's a significant step up imo.

This is a lot better then the last chapter. But only fans that have watched the animation can follow the story without confusion. There is a lot cut content that can make it hard to follow if you've never watched the show before. Here's to hoping it only gets better from here.

Compared to the last ones, it's not so bad, it's still confusing and it seems like there are missing panels between panels? Yes, they cut good parts of the episode and got the solver color wrong? Yeah. Also, V antirando na Uzi doesn't seem like the character, but well, I'm only giving it a better rating than the other issues because the art is very good and a new fan can somehow follow the story presented in this issue without getting confused. Also, please, 24 pages for a 20-minute episode isn't enough, I'm afraid of what you're going to do to Cyn when she appears.

If it's necessary to postpone the releases, please do so in person. I'd rather wait and have a comic that makes sense than not wait and receive a confusing story.

You guys didn’t even try to be faithful to the show. And what’s with the weird hatred you guys have for V? It’s like you didn’t even try to understand her character and just turned her into a stereotypical mean girl. Where did the $2 million dollars go?

These are actually great. I see some negative reviews and most are mad about the comic not being 1 to 1 with the show or claiming V is written incorrectly. These people didn't watch the actual show because V does the same thing she does in the show. All the dialogue besides some rewording and extra bits here and there are identical to the show. The only change i hate and feels generally ooc is Lizzy saying "every drone for themselves" in the last issue. If it was completely like the show people will complain about that too.

I really love thes series so this comic adaptations make it really amazing to be able to reexperience the series in a new format, loved the art.

Having only 24 pages, the massive skips had to be made, but all the dialogues that were changed are unnecessary, some scene changes are done dirty, causing one or two characters acted out of character.. and worst of all, cool panel/page moment ruined by dumb goofy dialogues.

surprisingly okay. I think it's because cabin fever overall is a quick episode, so it fit really well into a comic format. still shaves down scenes that need more focus on but at this point I have no grudge against the team behind this as it seems like glitch isn't really doing in-depth checks of every comic.

same as the previous. numerous issues, but most importantly, mischaracterization and missing/messed up (usually important) scenes. the only thing that gets points from me is the art. really disappointed as someone who murder drones means a lot to.

Loved it. The art is an absolute joy to look at. It does adapt epidsode 4 pretty well, especially the second half. Really enjoyed the few extra stuff they added <3

I didn't think it could get worse but somehow the character assassination train keeps traveling down the tracks. Removing entire scenes where V gets character development is criminal. Adding her smiling after N and Uzi's sky talk makes no sense anymore because she's gotten no character development over 3 whole issues now. I cannot in good conscious recommend this to anyone who has a modicum of appreciation for the show. It feels like nobody watched the source material when making this comic. As a fan of the show since the pilot this is a disservice to the show that means so much to me and many other people.

Better than the first 2 issues but still a good bit from being a good comic. Most people who pick this up wouldn't understand it if they weren't alread murder drones fans and it would probably discourage them from actually watching the show as this suffers from the same problems as the show but they are much more severe here than in the show. Frankly the best option for this is to just restart from the beginning and make each chapter 40-50 pages at MINMUM. Yes restarting and doing double length chapters would absolutely take a long time but oni is lucky here as the murder drones fandom is actually very patient (honestly the whole glitch fandom is quite patient) if it takes 5 years for the whole thing to be done WE WILL WAIT 5 YEARS FOR IT TO BE DONE WITHOUT COMPLAINT.

An absolute piece of art. I really enjoyed the original serie, and getting to read it now is incredible. It adapts Episode 4 really well, and I enjoyed every second of reading it.

I honestly think at this point if people are ripping issue #3 to shreds, they're jaded by how mad they've already been and are just opening these to be outraged and don't even want them to be any good to prove some kind of emotional point or whatever. This issue is more faithful to the show and a much better read than the first two, particularly because a) It is not condensing multiple episodes into one issue like #2, and b) the writing is SIGNIFICANTLY less married to the exact script of the show; Contrast issue #1 being the most egregious to the point the dialogue was sheer clutter and didn't entirely make sense, #2 was better in that it had no choice but to invent some significantly new dialogue because of plot consolidation but still needed work. The writing of #3 takes so much more creative liberty, the flow is much better and makes its own jokes unique to comic format. It is not a perfect 1:1 of the episode and it simply can't be, it's absurd to expect it to be. It's a comic. I had a feeling #3 would be the issue it finds itself and gets things on track, and I feel like it met my expectations.

That said, I think my personal biggest gripe with time consolidation here is cutting a little too much out regarding V. She either needed to still have the scene where she taunts Uzi while she's off investigating alone, or her scene with N confronting her being a little longer. I feel without either, her changing her mind about how she feels about Uzi doesn't feel very impactful, and that is something that would become important in later episodes. Everything else I'd say was handled pretty well and balanced and I like where it's going.
