BINI declared they’re proud Filipina artists as they accepted the Global Force award at the Billboard Women in Music Awards, which was presented to them by actress-model Cara Delevingne.

The P-pop powerhouse — composed of Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha and Sheena — was among the female awardees recognized at the ceremony on Wednesday, April 29 (morning of April 30 in the Philippines), emphasizing how they represented the Philippines in several fields.

As they accepted their award, Colet said the award is a “responsibility [they] carry with so much pride” as they continue to make their mark on the global stage.

“We are deeply honored to be given a chance to represent Filipino music and artists back home,” she said. “This is not only a milestone for us, but also a responsibility we carry with so much pride. We also want to acknowledge all our co-awardees tonight, who we look up to.”

Meanwhile, the group’s leader, Jhoanna, expressed her gratitude to their management, ABS-CBN, for standing by their side “since day one.” She also hoped that the recognition would remind young girls of the importance of dreaming big.

“We hope that we also inspire young girls watching this and they realize that their dreams are valid, no matter where they come from,” she said. “We accept this award not just as BINI, but more importantly, as proud Filipinas. Again, we are BINI. Salamat at mabuhay ang musikang Pilipino (Thank you and long live Filipino music).”

Another recipient of the Global Force award is Canadian female quartet The Beaches, who reminded fellow women that it’s okay to keep creating and “pick up [the] guitar” should they be interested in pursuing a career in music.

Other honorees include HUNTR/X’s Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami (Women of the Year); Ella Langley (Powerhouse); Kehlani (Impact); Laufey (Innovator); Mariah the Scientist (Rising Star); Tate McRae (Hitmaker); Teyana Taylor (Visionary); Thalia (Icon); and Zara Larsson (Breakthrough).

The milestone came shortly after BINI made history as the first Filipino homegrown act to perform at the Coachella Festival. They also graced the Grammy Museum’s Global Spin Live. /ra
