On the subway a few weeks ago, I looked up from my iPhone and saw all the other passengers glued to the screens of their iPhones. Among them, I saw a strange sight. It was a man maybe in his 60s reading the New York Times. The actual physical newspaper. It was folded longitudinally like you used to see all the time. I realized that I couldn’t recall the last time I had seen anyone on the train or, for that matter, anyone anywhere reading a tactile newspaper. It was a flashback to … what? Ten years ago? Twenty years ago? Maybe more.
