Anton [Pearson, guitarist] described this as the problem child of the album. The first idea for the track was written in 2021 and I think we finished the final structure for it maybe a week before we went into the studio. It was originally all one track but got separated into two because it has two quite distinct sections. This was the one that set the tone for the record, I think, because it had just been with us for that long.

@Garbage_Trash i was thinking maybe the first line was implying he used to be a bandit but you are right it could mean so much
fieldworks i and ii seem to be talking about an ex-criminal working as a policeman/guard and killing bandits, what he once was (in my head. if anyone could word it out better if they see what i mean that would be sick. excellent lyrics tho)
