At a Steeple Chase (jump) race, a horse broke their back over the last hurdle. They were euthanized soon after. The jockey, rather than dismounting, kept whipping them to the finish line. As someone that’s gotten interested in horse racing through a certain Japanese mobile game, I think these sports should care about animal welfare. Moreover, is jump racing even safe for horses? Mind you, normal racing already has quite a few injuries. These animals deserve better. RIP Gold Dancer. You deserved better.
