Just finished a cruise today that I booked 3 weeks ago. It was listed for ~$5200PP for normal pricing on other websites, and came available on bookcruisenow right around 3 weeks before departure for $3800PP. I messaged my interest, but it being above my budget and they offered $2600PP. It was an unbelievable experience, service was excellent, and I couldn’t imagine getting the same value out of land based in all honesty

Not an expert by any means but that feels like a lot of walking / a jam packed day. On the tour we took we stayed overnight in Aguas Calientes and then hiked up to Machu Picchu in the morning. Not sure what it was but there was a nice charm about the town at night. We had planned on walking back via hydroelectrica but decided to take the train back since we would have been backtracking along the same path (ie not seeing anything new). Was nice to relax on the train after a busy couple days

Going through my post history and figured I’d provide an update if anyone is asking the same question

We went with the 3 day Jungle Trek through Machu Picchu Reservations in August 2023

It was AWESOME, albeit without many frills. Starts with the mountain biking, where we were driven up a snow capped mountain and dropped off with our guide. After a brief safety talk, he was on his way and our group of 4 was left to follow him at our own pace. It was intense with the speeds we were going but with little to no car traffic we basically had the road to ourselves. Made a few guided lookout stops on the way over the course of 3 hours and ended up in a small town for lunch. We then went to the white water rafting which was a highlight. It was our first time rafting and it was the perfect amount of intensity, with confident but fun guides and welcome interim breaks between rapids. From there we were brought to our hostel-esque accommodations for the night.

The next morning started with zip lining. There were 3 zip lines across the valley, I’d say about 45 seconds on each zip line and waiting for the rest of the group. After that we were driven to our next spot for lunch prior to our hydroelectrica “hike” which is really just a 3 hour walk along train tracks. Pretty flat throughout so low intensity and we could walk at our pace, and a few lookouts on the way. Walking through the jagged valleys and gorges was pretty cool but I could understand if one would want to skip the hike and take the train. Arrived in Aguas Calientes and had time to explore the town, which isn’t very large but did have a truly local feeling to it. Accommodations again were hostel-like

Woke up early the next morning to hike up to Machu Picchu, although there was a paid option for the bus which my wife did. The hike up the mountain took us about 45 minutes, but we were moving at a decent pace and I could understand anyone needing double that. Was drenched in sweat at the top, luckily my wife had a t-shirt to switch into when we met at the top. Our guide led us through the tour, which I think was circuit 3 or 4. (we booked somewhat last minute). 1 is the most popular, which includes the recognizable overlook of Machu Picchu. I can only speak on the circuit we did, but I can’t imagine one circuit being that much better than another. It’s an amazing experience regardless.

Our guide left us after the tour and we were “on our own” to get back. We decided the day of to take the train back in lieu of hiking the same three hour hydroelectrica trail, which they coordinated to pick us up from the train station instead of the end of the trail

Overall, the experience and activities were unreal. Once in a lifetime experience before we even got to Machu Picchu. Regarding the accommodations and included meals, you get what you pay for. They did the job but again, no frills. Meals were good enough. My wife is medium-maintenance and was fine with the accommodations because you’re exhausted by the end of the day no matter what. Happy to answer any questions (if anyone ever sees this lol)

We ended up buying this out of necessity at PetSmart when my wife had to return to work. The XL was well sized for our 150 lb boy but after a few days it’s not overly form fitting and he was able to figure out a way to lick his incision area. Plus the snap buttons fell off after washing (was able to exchange for a new one). I’d look into something else, especially for the price, but if you’re desperate it can work https://www.petsmart.com/dog/health-and-wellness/first-aid-and-recovery/calm-paws-premium-recovery-vest-and-calming-disk-for-dogs-63482.html

From the ESPN article, Martin’s dad shared a voicemail from Incognito on April 6, 2013.

“Hey, wassup, you half-n—— piece of s—. I saw you on Twitter, you been training 10 weeks. I’ll s— in your f—ing mouth. I’m going to slap your f—ing mouth, I’m going to slap your real mother across the face [laughter]. F— you, you’re still a rookie. I’ll kill you.”

Richie Incognito still a bad guy

Thanks for all the updates! Is the person counting asking people how many tickets people are buying or just counting people? I assume mostly everyone will be buying 2 tickets so at 870 you’re closer to the 1700th “ticket”

I say this nearly every night to my wife. Her reactions to the contestant stories feel so inauthentic whereas Ken feels engaging and has a genuine reaction. Glad I’m not the only one

Hi Scott! Been a premium member for 4+ years now and it’s my favorite subscription. Just looking at cheap flights without booking is exciting. But obviously booking is even better (Japan in November for $250 🤞🏻)

Question regarding mistake fares: when you send mistake fares out, you always clarify the chances of the fare not being honored and the flight being canceled, but that chance is “low”. I’ve booked 3 mistake fares in my time (South Africa 2017, Australia 2020, Portugal 2021), and all 3 were cancelled within 2 weeks. Did I just choose the wrong mistake fares to book? Or is the mistake fare system hard to take advantage of when thousands of people are made aware of it via email?

Not a complaint, love what you guys do!

Not OP but thanks for the thorough response, and the AMA in general. As a premium member myself I do sometimes feel like some deals are oversaturated, but I have to agree with you that some people would be blown away by a $400 transatlantic flight. I usually ignore the “just ok” ones and keep an eye out for the spicy ones ($253 JFK-MXP this past November)

I’m not sure if it’s available nationwide but I have a free membership with moonfish.com (via PHL), they usually send one deal per day, usually domestic. To be honest I haven’t booked anything yet and they’re typically on budget airlines so bag fees are likely but it’s something to consider

Thanks for the thorough response. I kind of figured 2 days in each with early or evening trains between. From what I’m seeing the weather along Amalfi coast may still be pretty nice. Is one day enough to get the experience? I’m seeing some bus tours around the area but idk if they’ll still be operating in November. Might be worth looking into as it gets closer

10 Day Trip in Early November. Thoughts?~
10 Day Trip in Early November. Thoughts?~

Hello all

My wife and I (25) will be arriving in Milan November 1 and departing from Milan November 11 in the am, so 10 days total. Trying to figure out our itinerary.

Rome, Florence, and Venice seem to be the must sees (at least 2 days each). From there, I'm figuring on a day or 2 in Milan. Then I'm not sure where the best area to go. Cinque Terre? Naples/Amalfi coast? Dolomites?

My first thought is to take a train/flight south to Rome as soon as we arrive and make our way north, eventually back to Milan on the 9th or 10th. Or stay in Milan the first day and go to Venice November 2, eventually getting a train north from Rome. I don't think we'll have enough time to fully take in Naples/Amalfi, and as far as I can tell the weather will not be overly warm all around

Any suggestions? Thanks!

For any pour souls looking for suggestions, I ended up using a drain bladder attached to my garden hose which ended up doing the trick ($12 at Home Depot). Very simple and effective for whatever I had going on. Here’s hoping it stays clear

The hand auger I used was 1/2" and I made it about 20 ft the last time I tried it. It wouldn't make it past an elbow (I don't think I was hitting the blockage). That's when I used the chemical cleaner which ended up working

Yeah a motorized auger is probably the fix I need. I did try a hand auger last time, I think it went about 20 ft and hit an elbow in the pipe, couldn't make it past it. Out of curiosity, do you remember how much did the plumber's visit cost you?

I don't have a garbage disposal, I use a sink strainer and am pretty diligent about stuff not making its way down.

I did previously and I'm assuming they'll be clean this time too. The water takes a little time to start filling the sink, so I'm thinking whatever is blocking is further down the piping

Slow drain at Kitchen Sink??
Slow drain at Kitchen Sink??

Hey guys, about 6 months ago my kitchen sink was draining VERYYY slowly (no issues anywhere else). Cleaned out the P trap and any piping I could reach, used multiple different sized drain snakes, tried boiling hot water and baking soda, basically anything I could find on the internet. Ended up using chemical cleaner, and the drain cleared immediately.

CURRENTLY, the drain is beginning to drain slowly again (not as bad as before, but I'm sure that's coming). Is there anything I should do before using chemical cleaner again? I want to avoid it because of how harsh it is, but knowing it works makes think that's the simple fix. Or possibly an enzyme cleaner? Open to anything that will help. Thanks!

Thanks much for the thorough response. I've read elsewhere how its a slow moving process and a lot of documentation is required over a long period of time. Definitely gave me a better idea. Hope everything works out for you and good luck! Congrats!

Wow that's great to know, thanks for that. We also found a place we love but we're waiting for an approval from the seller, so hopefully we can push the settlement until October
