We do not want to be a platform filled with soulless advertisements, neither do we want to be an archive for random hentai like Booru websites.
We want to be a platform for original creators, regardless of how degenerate their content is. If anything we encourage niche creators more than normal ones ;D (normal ones are welcome as well of course)
So please, please create and post whatever content you desire!
(as long as you follow the rules, in order to not put others or the entire site into risk of being removed entirely)
If you ever feel or get harassed, because of the content you create, please reach out to us with a support ticket or message through Discord or direct message.
IWARA is not against Monetization.
If anything, we encourage it as we understand that it can be an extremely strong motivator for creators.
Common ways of how creators on IWARA usually do Monetization and is approved by IWARA:
- Upload higher Resolution/Framerate/Bitrate versions, of content uploaded to IWARA, on a second platform. (2k/4k, 60fps, 20.000 Bitrate, etc.)
- Upload uncensored/without watermark versions, of content uploaded to IWARA, on a second platform.
- Upload content variations, of content uploaded to IWARA, on a second platform. (Different outfits or models for example)
- Upload "Ecchi" variations, of "General" content uploaded to IWARA, on a second platform. (This was forbidden before, but now we want to be a bit more lax. If you received a warning about this, please ignore it. If you were banned because of this, please contact us.)
- Upload exclusive content, not uploaded to IWARA, on a second platform. (Only every second or third content created is uploaded to IWARA for example)
- Upload non-exclusive content, which is uploaded to IWARA at a later date, on a second platform first.
Notice the mention of second platform. IWARA currently doesn't have Monetization options, but does plan implementing such options in the future that can then be used as an alternative to any second platform.
However, whatever you upload to IWARA to advertise your other content should feel like standalone content itself, with a clear beginning and end. A viewer shouldn't feel like they got cut short or saw something incomplete. Ideally, the content uploaded to IWARA should feel complete, as if there was no additional part or version.
Common violations because of Monetization are:
- Upload content to IWARA, with intolerable quality (below 720p24fps or inadequate bitrate)
- Upload privated content to IWARA, and only accepting friend requests through payment on a second platform.
- Upload teasers or previews to IWARA, for content only available through payment on a second platform.
- Upload teasers or previews to IWARA, for content uploaded to IWARA at a later date.
- Upload image post teasers or previews to IWARA, for content only available on a second platform.
- Upload HMVs or Compilations to IWARA, to promote exclusive content only available through payment on a second platform.
- Upload content that was cut short on purpose, in order to promote the complete full-length version available on a second platform.
- Upload overly censored content, in order to encourage buying the uncensored version on a second platform. (Censoring more than required by Japanese law would be an example of overly censored content.)
We only allow original content, that you yourself created. We do not allow the reposting of content from other people under any reason. Only one copy of a video or image post should exist at any time on IWARA.
It does not matter...
- ...if you received permission,
- ...if the creator has gone offline for a long time,
- ...if you think it should be shared with others,
- ...or any other reason.
It's also not enough to do an alteration to a video from another creator. Things like color change, upscaling, fps interpolation, etc. are not enough of a change and still count as reposted content.
AI Filter alterations can be allowed, under the condition you received permission from the original creator and informed the original creator how you use the alteration and whether you use it for monetization.
The only exception to altered content is Compilations & HMVs.
We consider Compilations to not be Reposting Content, because they can be as creative as the original sources they use. HMVs are essentially a subset of Compilations.
We are however strict on Compilations, in order to respect the original creators and their hard work. This is why Compilations require "sufficient editing", in order to not be considered a reposted video.
It's hard to define "sufficient editing", but here are examples of "insufficient editing":
- Unedited video with only music added.
- Repeatedly reusing the same video scene.
- Only using or editing one video source.
Additionally, here are examples of "sufficient editing":
- Adding SFX (Sound Effects) or VA (Voice Acting) to a video.
- Syncing Scenes to the beat of the music.
In any case, in order to respect the original creators you have to properly add both the name and hyperlink of the original source or creator into the description for each individual source used. Credits inside the videos do not count, but are a nice addition. The reason why we want credits in the description with hyperlinks, is so that both moderation, but also overcoming language barriers is a lot easier that way. It also helps us to determine whether you have created the Compilation yourself or not.
Also, ideally, please ask other creators for permission to use their content in your Compilation. When we receive a complaint, we will ask you for a proof of permission. A screenshot of the permission is advised.
Currently, the tagging system isn't as fleshed out as we would like it to be. Therefore, we are a bit lax with enforcing this rule, except with missing "Sensitive" tags.
Please also note that accepting tag suggestion take a very long time.
If you need to reupload one of your creations in order to correct a mistake or solve an issue, you can go to the older post, open the edit page and replace the video of that old post.
For Image posts, you can add or remove images, as well as rearrange them at any time. The first image of an image post will be used as the thumbnail.
In the case that an uploaded video doesn't load even after a day has passed, it's better to delete that video and upload it again.
Because of how slow IWARA's content servers are, there are some issues you might run into.
For one, uploading a video can take a really long time. Sometimes it can take even hours to upload a way and it can also fail the upload from time to time.
If your upload consistently fails, be sure your file size and video encoding is correct as shown on video upload page. If the encoding is correct, try uploading through a different browser, device or connection. If all of that doesn't work, fell free to reach out to us, as it might be a bug.
Even after the video is uploaded, source quality might not be available straight away because of reencoding. Usually it varies from under an hour to multiple hours.
Feel free to use the Forum to ask for help about content creation. Usually, "Help/Questions" is a good place to ask questions and "Requests" to ask for help when searching for assets for content creation. Likewise, "Guides" is for content creation guides and "Sharing" is for sharing assets.
In addition to the Forums, there is also the IWARA Discord, that has a dedicated #mmd-help and #asset-share-or-request channel. You may find some creators being active there as well. ;)
Lastly, don't be afraid to reach out to other creators on the site, through posting a comment or sending a direct message to them. More often than not, they'd be more than willing to answer your question and help you out.
