To the 8th batch of REC,
Today marks one week since we parted ways. Time flew by so fast when we all were having fun. It felt like yesterday when we were all first introduced to each other: chatting like no tomorrow and running around trying to fill in our bingo sheets. As you all step into a new chapter of your lives, we just want to take a moment to say - thank you. Truly, from the bottom of our hearts.
You guys were undoubtedly more than just seniors. You were our mentors, our guiding lights and most importantly, our friends. You showed us that REC was more than just a robotics, engineering or computing club; it was a family. Since Day 1, all of y’all were so welcoming. Throughout these short months, you guys built more than just robots or lines of code; you guys built a family. One where we could goof around, learn and grow without fear– because we knew that you guys would be there every step of the way to lift us up.
You know, it's gonna be strange walking into a room and not hearing your jokes, your advice or your infectious laughter. Though the com lab may feel emptier, we are sure that your legacy will fill every corner of the room. You guys have undeniably left a spirit that keeps us going, even when the going gets tough. We must admit, we have big big shoes to fill. But we are going to do our best as the 9th batch of REC, and live up to the shining legacy of the previous batches: especially yours.
We miss you guys deeply – but more than that, we’re proud, like really proud of you guys. We shall wait in anticipation to see all the amazing things that you guys will do, whether it be Chin Xin growing a successful durian plantation, Jenna becoming the world champion in MaiMai or Qiao Yu going to jail. Just know that no matter where you go, you will always have a home back here in Com Lab 1.

In the last two weeks, we were honoured to receive the INCREDIBLE ⭐️✨ opportunity to partner with @chijsc 👦👧 to teach and share our burning passion 🔥 for computing 💻 and robotics 🦾🤖 with a group of young and bright minds!
Technology is an integral part of life today 🧩🧑💻, and will no doubt be crucial in the future! 🔮🌃 That’s why throughout our lessons, we were THRILLED 😆😮 to see the children’s energy ⚡️, creativity 🎨, and excitement 😯😄 as they explored and experimented with bold ideas! 🧪💡
We really hope to have SPARKED their curiosity 🌩️🧠 and equipped them with knowledge 🤔📘 that will not only shape their FUTURE interests 🤩 but also empower them with a DEEPER UNDERSTANDING of technology! 💻🧒
It has truly been a WONDERFUL journey together, and we hope that our young talents continue to discover and pursue their own passions. 😊❤️✨

The rhythm where mind and machine meet.
The computer lab, alive with intent —
Keys resounding in a code they invent.
Can you see it? Some look but do not see.
What was dismissed as a fluke was their destiny.
While they view the Cave, we envision the Mine.
It, we yearn and crave, code crafted like diamond so fine.
If with us you see your fate, please mind the gate.
It swings only for those who don’t hesitate.

Over the course of 5 months, our REC members have been preparing non-stop 😴😴 for both the National Robotics Competition (NRC) and World Robot Olympiad (WRO)🤖.We are happy to share that they have made the school proud and clinched several awards too! 🤩🤩
Our sole NRC team clinched the Best Learning Journey 📚and 2nd Best Engineering Design 🎨
One of our WRO teams reached the finals and came home 8️⃣th overall!
Our other WRO team put in a very commendable effort and their hard work should not be discounted 💪.

On 10 May 2024, we bid farewell to our J2s as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. As time marches on, we hope that the memories you created here remind you of the good times you had in this CCA. May life’s journey treat you kindly, and may our paths cross again soon.

We are grateful for the experience of conducting our very own CCA VIA in collaboration with MINDS’ Sports and Family Day 🏃🤩 Through this experience, we interacted with and gained a greater understanding 😮 of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PWIDs) as we guided them through our robot obstacle course 🤖🙌
