From today, news aggregation will be archived, and no longer updated.

The decision was made as the amount of work (6 hours, 3 days of the week) required to read and review news stories, was too much to justify the benefits of maintaining the service. This was the workload before the stories were added and organized within the forum.

There are obvious benefits when multiple users are reading news stories and updating information resources such as the forum and NewgonWiki. In some cases, blog posts were written on the basis of information gleaned from these searches.

Ultimately, the burden was not being shared, though, with Jim Burton doing the entire search, AI training and forum posting required to keep the project alive and updated.

In the future, we will try to bring this service back, likely in a highly automated form, with AI doing the entire search and compilation of news articles. At this point, AI is incredibly good with workload, and determining prominence and consensus of knowledge, but very poor at determining relevancy according to fine-tuned criteria.

Running the service has provided us with more useful information about how much work needs to be put in to achieve certain goals, and how many end users see real value in different information streams.

A news aggregation service can go down on the long list of tasks we would complete if we had the capacity.

Real Journalism (2025) is a collection of writings by Karl Andersson on (as the cover states) sexual politics, history, and culture. These articles appeared in Andersson’s self-published magazines, Destroyer and The Lover between 2006-2017. The book has a particular focus on man-boy love. Andersson includes enlightening accounts from boys who reflect on their sexual relationships with men. He reports on these interactions, and examines the social, economic, and cultural factors which influenced their development. There is much to enjoy and ponder in Real Journalism.

In this article, reviewer Felix Filus focuses on this question: Are the men in these relationships exploiting the boys? All opinions are those of the reviewer, who is not a committee member of Mu.

Real Journalism means embodying the journalists' creed ("Seek truth and report it") even when the truth may be socially inconvenient for the journalist. Karl Andersson is "Gay Man's Worst Friend" because, in the eyes of some gay men, promoting man-boy love as an inalienable part of gay culture undermines the goal of many people in the gay rights movement to disown this part of their culture. In Andersson's view, the effort to separate man-boy love from gay culture is dishonest. It is an attempt to "blandif[y]" (Andersson, 2025, p. 13) gay culture and make it more palatable by making it more heteronormative. In Real Journalism, Andersson provides evidence from ethnographic studies, interviews, and accounts by the boys themselves to support his claim that adolescent boys are not inherently harmed by sexual encounters with adult men and that adolescent boys often seek adult male partners. Andersson argues that some of these adolescents are gay, whereas for others, it is akin to a "phase" and they will become straight as they enter adulthood. Similarly, there are adult men who seek out sexual encounters with other adult men and boys, yet these men are essentially straight (See also: Tearoom Trade: A Study of Homosexual Encounters in Public Places by Laud Humphreys). Drawing on his ethnographic studies on shota fans in Japan, Andersson asserts this: "When you don't believe in an inborn sexuality that trumps everything else in your life—you must "come out" and "be who you are" (Foucault likened this to Christian confession)—you can be free to explore your desires and play around with them" (p. 16).

Throughout Real Journalism, Andersson discusses the injustices faced by men who have sexual relationships with boys and men who consume erotic content of boys. He argues that prosecuting men who ethically make, consume, or otherwise possess sexual art of boys or erotic films of boys (using Azov Films as an example) is wrong. Moreover, he says that what is ruled as child pornography is becoming increasingly arbitrary and absurd (p. 223). The American mainstream Left, it seems, is experiencing a minor-crisis over the "pedophile" menace in these end-time days of Epstein.

We might ask on the one hand; are pedophiles something the Left should run away from like startled kids, or even deny, as per the drag-panic and groomer-libel we have all become far too familiar, and frankly bored to death with? Or is pedophilia a hysteria-de-jour they should instead continue to sow the seeds of, lest the pedo-smear one day become profitable as it now promises to be with the incoming release of the "Epstein Files"?

Commentators, naturally, appear not only to want it both ways, but just like Epstein and his pals, in as many ways as possible!

"Pedophilia", the fashionable Left scream, is an exceptionally awful crime, a crimen exceptum. Any person so unfortunate as to become tainted by association with this vile psychopathy, is without a doubt - garbage, an "awful human being", totally irredeemable, they would say. Yet "pedophilia", they also contend, is all around us! So much so, that pedophilia is culture itself - an inevitable example of everything that is wrong with cis-hetero-patriarchal society and the cynical elites who control it. So the heroes and heroines of the mainstream Left are not only ogling their pedophilic cake, they also want to wolf it down their starved throats just like Donald Trump in the locker-room of a Miss Teen America contest.

Megyn Kelly takes aim, and feels the blowback

Recently, famed conservative commentator, Megyn Kelly took the mainstream Left's bait in a segment of her show where she drew a sharp distinction between Jeffrey Epstein's harem of teen "jailbait" on the one hand, and on the other, de facto pedophilia. That is, an attraction to small children before the age of puberty.

Despite the predictable and mind-numbingly bovine fallout ("diet pedophilia" was one such coinage), Kelly was of course spot-on. For decades now, professors of Sexology and Mental Health Practitioners have been warning us of just how important this distinction is. In addressing and defending the umbrella-term "Minor-Attracted Person", we have already reflected those concerns here, at Mu.

It is now considered cancellation material to "deny" that Epstein was a "pedophile", or point out that 5 and 15-year-olds are biologically different

Young people and sexual minorities are yet again silenced

Failing to distinguish between attraction to adolescents and attraction to prepubertal children, as well as being deeply unscientific, also does a grave disservice to young people. This is best understood when we acknowledge that for 99% of the population, "pedophilia" is wrongly assumed to be a criminal, often forcible act, rather than an attraction per se. And since we are now in effect talking about criminal acts, we already know who will inevitably be caught in the crossfire; AMSC debutantes and abuse survivors.

Peer Support: Worrying about being a pedophile? Get to know the monster you are running away from!

Over the last ten years, there has been a lot of talk about "pedophilia" as a common theme for OCD sufferers. Some of it appears to be opportunistic, coming from professionals, some of it perpetuates stigma, yet some of it comes directly from sufferers. While using "Pedophilia OCD" as a diagnostic term is controversial for a variety of reasons, there is no doubt that many people suffer obsessive and compulsive thoughts about their sexuality, especially in their youth.

In particular, it is unsurprising to find this anxiety often centers upon "pedophilic" feelings - perhaps the most stigmatized of all sexual inclinations at present, yet surprisingly common. Pedophilia can of course be "controlled" like any other sexuality - pedophiles who live among us attest to the fact they are not ticking time bombs - a stereotype that only exists to make some feel better about their own hateful obsessions. But while not a mental health issue in and of itself, pedophilia, or the fear thereof, might be the starting point for deeper mental traumas rooted in social stigma.

One answer that may shock some, has widespread acceptance

A recent post on The P Word gives us a window into how one individual, wracked with doubts they might be a pedophile, confronted their own demons by getting to know the target of their obsessions - living, breathing pedophiles!

While on the face of things, this may look unconventional, exposing oneself to online, non-offending "pedophile" communities, as well as having unsupervised access to children, aligns with one of the recommended treatments for this kind of OCD - Exposure and Response Prevention therapy.

In some cases, MAPs have instead been uneasy about engaging with OCD sufferers, suggesting that this will only make things worse somehow, but attitudes have been slowly changing over the last decade. And in other instances, MAPs have instead acknowledged they have obsessive and compulsive thoughts about their own sexuality, and fret over what form it might take (e.g. "am I a sadist", "am I attracted to infants"). While Sexuality OCD sufferers may indeed be carriers of the social stigma and guilt that MAPs are trying to escape, it is incumbent upon MAPs who have the strength to confront that stigma, to help others past it.

Ultimately, when we confront and erase this deadly stigma together, we help clear the air of the confusing, befuddling smog of misinformation. OCD sufferers might then learn that pedophilia needn't rule their lives, while actual pedophiles and MAPs might discover it isn't so much of a curse after all!

News: L.A. Times "Cash for Claimants" bombshell - The TL;DR

An L.A. Times investigation has just uncovered the fact that plaintiffs in a record $4bn sex abuse settlement, claim they received cash up-front to sue L.A. County.

This is a finding that provides a degree of confirmation for something many of us have long suspected, or even known about, but felt nervous to speak out about, lest we be accused of victim-blaming. Here, we will present the key details of the story, for those who might not have the time to go over the whole thing.

The investigation uncovered the practice of paying for plaintiffs among what it calls a "nebulous network of vendors", who usher people desperate for cash toward a law firm, Downtown L.A. Law Group (DTLA), that "could profit significantly from their business". Investigators spent two weeks outside the county social services office in South L.A. They spoke with seven hard-up people who said they were paid to sue L.A. County for sex abuse.
These individuals claimed they were abused inside the county’s juvenile halls, but only sued after they were tapped up on the sidewalk and directly offered cash to do so. Two people said they were told to fabricate stories of abuse. The litigation floodgates opened in 2020 after California passed a law allowing survivors of childhood sexual abuse to sue the perpetrator even though the statute of limitations had passed on their cases.
All these claims were filed by DTLA, driving-force behind the county’s recent $4-billion settlement for sex abuse inside its juvenile facilities. Of the roughly 11,000 plaintiffs in the record settlement, The Times found that nearly one-fourth were represented by them. Court records reveal that DTLA, a personal-injury firm not previously known for sexual abuse suits, has found more than 2,700 people to sue L.A. County. The firm will get nearly half the money for each client.
Marlon Bland, 31, said he got $200 in cash street-side and another $200 when he went to meet with DTLA. Kevin Richardson, 59, whose suit was filed by DTLA on Oct. 15, said he got $50 outside the social services office. Quantavia Smith, 38, whose suit was filed by DTLA on April 29, said a vendor drove her to the office of a downtown law firm and then gave her $200. The vendor allegedly handed one man a postcard-sized “script” of how to respond. The county had no records of who was in its facilities decades ago, he was told. Juan Fajardo said he would watch a man pull up outside the social services office in a Tesla most Fridays and hand the recruiters cash, which they would dole out the following week to potential plaintiffs. DTLA have allegedly warned complainants not to talk to the Times.
Importantly, California law bans a practice known as capping, in which non-attorneys directly solicit or procure clients to sign up for lawsuits with a law firm.
