“Supports Israel” is this very fun little transitive property moment because it because it always goes “acknowledges Jewish history in the levant/doesn’t want every Israeli to die” becomes -> “supports everything the Israeli government has ever done” -> “wants to genocide every single Palestinian” and suddenly acknowledging that the Farhud happened is a “Zionist plot”

You replace “Support Israel” with any other country and you realize that it’s vague and absurd (what would it mean to “support Canada”? “Support Argentina”, for example, without further context?). But I have to pretend it’s coherent when people do it for Israel?

One trope I keep hearing about (I’m sure it’s a carnard though) is this weird idea that the world is “finally waking up” to the atrocities in Palestine or how everyone is finally realizing how “evil” Israel is? And it’s like, where have you been? I was hearing about antizionism in high school as I got into politics online. There’s an Onion video on the conflict from like 2013 or so. The UN brings it up at literally every single meeting. The Middle East has had it as a constant topic. I was reading a book from 2004 that discussed the way that the U.S. and the Mossad were collaborating. I voiced my distaste for the IDF (and the antizionist leanings I had at the time, obviously I’ve had my opinions shift a lot over the past year) in 2021 to a Zionist friend of mine took me to a presentation where I could ask the soldiers my questions directly. None of this is “new” except how much more overtly and violently antisemitic things have gotten.

@nadialabonita Where did I mention either modern day Israel or the occupied territories? If your response to the denial of Jewish refugees from the Holocaust to the British Mandate of Palestine is to curse Israel and refuse to acknowledge the history of Jewish refugees, your pro-Palestinian championing is antisemitic and not particularly helpful to the Palestinian people. 

Palestinian refugees and those still living under occupation in the territories deserve more than to be fodder for your antisemitism.

Anyways I can’t show you the reply because they blocked me but someone just called Israel “the most oppressive regime in the Middle East”.

That is the exact attitude I’m talking about. You have looked at a region of the world where the IRGC killed over 30,000 protestors in the past few months, where the Taliban denies women medical care, and where Yemen has banished and jailed every last Jew in the country and told me that the most oppressive regime in the area is the only country that gives Arab and Jewish citizens equal rights.

Does Israel oppress Palestinians? Yes. (Many other countries do too, but something tells me these people aren’t ready for that conversation).

But to call Israel the greatest oppressor in the world—that’s the antisemitism.

Also, you know when I haven’t seen it trending? any time news come out about how Hamas fighters are marching through the streets of Gaza breaking people’s legs, torturing them, and shooting them in public. You know? The civilians that you people are supposed to care about? When a movement gets excited about murdered Jews, but shrugs about terrorists murdering Palestinian civilians you know something’s wrong. You joined a genocidal antisemitic death cult. time to de radicalize yourself and if you actually care about Palestinian people time to check out organizations like Realign for Palestine that are actually working for peace and don’t support hate or terrorism.

Also it’s only with Palestine that everything must be Israel. Acknowledging that they’re also oppressed by their government is weirdly not allowed. Even though you know, shouldn’t that make it more tragic and urgent?

I feel like Jewish holidays are allowed to just be about Jews and Jewish history. In fact, if your goal was to separate Judaism from the legal state of Israel, making every Jewish holiday about Palestine is like de-centering men by constantly talking about how you hate men
