Murdoch stood alone in the middle of the street and watched Johnny until he disappeared into the cantina. He couldn’t shake off the feeling he’d missed his chance to spend time with his son.
The offer to have supper with him was unexpected and he’d responded in kind, begging off the spicy food Johnny suggested, preferring to spend his time after the drive reading in the hotel. Checking his watch, he realized it was still early.
Shaking his head, he swore if given a second chance, he’d do better. He’d listen and be the father his son deserved. Next time….
