Cooma Public School
Located in the Central Business District, close to all facilities, Cooma Public has a proud tradition of providing quality education to the Monaro students since 1863. Our focus is on literacy, numeracy and innovative pedagogy, whereby students are encouraged to be good thinkers and independent learners. We have excellent programs in sport ,including a ski program for K-6 in winter. We are proud of our creative arts activities, public speaking and student leadership. Our school is recognised in the district as a school of excellence in Information and Communication Technology, having a state of the art computer lab and interactive whiteboards in all classrooms. Our support class offers an education to all students on the Monaro who have a moderate or severe intellectual or physical disability. We have good wheelchair access and our P&C owns the local disabled bus run. We have an active P&C which meets on the second Tuesday of the month. We value parent participation in classroom literacy, numeracy and sport programs as well as at weekly canteen. Our excellent Home Reading program is well supported by all parents and is making a difference. Our welfare system is based on the Positive Behaviour for Success values: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be a Learner. Our motto is "Forever Forward".

LED Upgrade
The $157.8 million LED Lighting Upgrade Program will install new LED lights in up to 1,000 public schools across NSW. This means reduced operating costs for schools and improved learning environments and outcomes for our students.

Maintenance
To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Schools Renewal
The $240 million Schools Renewal Program aims to accelerate projects that will improve the amenity of schools and kick start local jobs for local communities. This is a co-funded program, with each school contributing up to 50 per cent of the project cost.
