Disgusting how Ian Flynn gets away poisoning the sonic fandom perception with his writing. His Sonic Frontiers dialogue crediting him by his fanatics he invented everything about Sonic Frontiers. All of its storyline on his own before Japanese Sonic Team did. Did they ignore the part where Ian Flynn mocked and downplayed the threat level of The End main antagonist eldritch cosmic horror monster that represented death itself? As by Ian Flynn's own response in his own words how The End is nothing special as an antagonist. That alone should show contradiction he didn't by any means created Sonic Frontiers story.
Yeah it should be pretty evident from the quality of the writing in the games he’s credited on compared to the comics, and by his own statements about the games, that he doesn’t have nearly as much to do with the creation of these stories as everyone is convinced he does.
It’s like, occasionally I’ll stumble across a single line of dialog that sounds like something Ian Flynn wrote. And they’ll be few and far between.
Otherwise it’s clear that what’s actually happening with these games is Kishimoto and Iizuka are giving him a strict bullet point outline to follow, from which Flynn will write a draft, and then Sonic Team will viscously red pen it and send it back to be rewritten, and that process repeats until they’re effectively just standing behind Flynn telling him exactly what to write down word for word for 90% of the script.
The dude is hired as a marketing gimmick. He clearly doesn’t have anything to do with the production of these stories. And it’s obvious from hearing him talk about them that he doesn’t understand the first thing about the games he’s credited on, and definitely never ends up playing any of them.
