3rd in the Rain Series

After two weeks of rain, the lower pastures were flooded, and the only way to access them was by rowboat.

“Sir, do you want me to do that?”

“No, Scott,” Murdoch grunted as he pulled on the small boat’s oars.  “How much further?”

“Another quarter mile.”

“Tell me again why your brother decided to set up camp there?”

“It was the highest point in the pasture.  He herded as many cattle as he could up there.”

“And… why did he stay?”

Scott just laughed.

Reaching the small island, Murdoch looked at his disheveled youngest son.

“Come home, Johnny.”

Johnny shook his head.  “Nope. Unless you got an ark that can hold Barranca, I ain’t going nowhere.”

“We figured as much.”  Scott heaved three sacks of supplies to his brother.  “Take care, little brother.”

“Thanks.”

“Alright, we’ll be back in a few days,” Murdoch waved. “Scott, grab the oars.”
