🌒✨🕯️ It's been a wild fucking ride to get here, but I'm 32 years old today!🕯️✨🌘 Thank you to anyone who has been a part of my weird, trippy, chaotic, surreal psychedelic, trash gobliny, sometimes sad, and incredibly eccentric journey through this life, I LOVE YOU. 🖤🖤🖤 (I was going to post a bunch of videos, but I don't have time to find all of them, so maybe later😅)

Monday marked a year since my dad passed, which still feels completely surreal. I've been trying to write this post since Monday, but it's been difficult to gather my thoughts 🥀 When I went to Utah for his funeral last year, I also had to frantically clean out two of his storage units within the brief timeframe I was there, as well as pack up anything of his I was moving to Michigan. I moved a good portion of his belongings, but my heart couldn't handle opening them for the longest time. I took time off of work this week and was finally able to go through all of his stuff since I had no time restrictions and felt I was ready to sit with my emotions during the process. It was extremely bittersweet to read through notebook after notebook of fantastical short stories/story concepts he wrote (I will share some of these one day), organize his leather tools/books/art supplies, and place all the decades worth of loose photos into an actual photo album. It was healing to be able look at the condensed timeline of his life when I was putting together the photo album: to see so many pictures of him smiling and healthy, hanging out with friends and being goofy, going on adventures, raising us kids. I still have a lot to process emotionally, but this is at least a step in the right direction. I miss him every fucking day, there's so much more I could say, but I'll just leave this as it is. ✨🕯️🖤🕯️✨

I would give anything to go back in time and spend one more day in the treehouse my dad built, with him reading next to the roses in the garden below. 🥲🌿🖤🌹

Finally pushed myself out of my comfort zone and started therapy. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time but was too nervous to actually follow through with until now. I'm very fortunate to have found an incredible therapist that I feel comfortable with and look forward to positive results. It's going to be really hard work but it's better than being stuck in my constant mental hell-loop. 🌱🌼

✨🍁Here are a few reasons why I wanted ginger hair🍁✨ I was really hesitant to do this color at first because I didn't know if it would look good on me, but it's now my favorite color I've ever dyed my hair 😌🎃🧡🍂🍁🌰✨

I only took one picture at Eve of War last night but the lighting was so shitty you could barely see my face 🫠 I at least took one before the show since it was the first time I've gotten ready and left the house to do something (other than run errands) in months 😅⚔️

It feels strange to celebrate anything right now, but with the inevitable passage of time, it's my first birthday without my dad. Every milestone I hit in life will now be bittersweet because I won't be able to celebrate with him, but I'll hold his memory closer in those moments and honor his message from his last birthday card he sent to me. His dreams will merge with mine so long as I keep going. Looking through these pictures of me it's easy to see that our dreams were merged from the beginning, his influence has always reflected in who I am 🖤💛⚜️⚔️ If any friends have fun stories/memories (no matter how unhinged or wild 😅) we've shared together the best birthday gift I could get is to read them so I can be reminded that my life hasn't just been one unfortunate event to the next. Any kind words would be appreciated 💛🖤 Thank you, and remember to hold your loved ones close to you because we never know how much time we'll have together.

Navigating grief and mourning right now has been overwhelming to say the least. I've been listening to the album Slaughtersun (Crown of the Triarchy) by Dawn on repeat since the day I found out my father passed since it's been one of few things to keep me grounded and offer brief moments of raw catharsis amongst the chaos. Hopefully I'll be able to get to a point in the near future where I can channel all these emotions into my own art and music and create pieces that would make him, my eternal muse, proud. ⚔️🕊️

Mont J Maxfield: November 10th 1960 - June 9th 2024 - On Sunday I received a call from my siblings letting me know that my father had passed. To say I'm devastated would be an understatement. Although he had been struggling with severe health issues these past years, I thought I would still have more time with him. He was my whole world and I loved and cherished him more than anything. It's difficult to articulate the depths of this pain and loss, but also my undying love; no words could ever do my love for him justice. He was endlessly creative, deeply compassionate, gentle, understanding, and forever a kid at heart. In his life he was - a master artisan skilled in leather working, candle and armor making - a lover of nature who always stopped to smell the roses and had a passion for tending his garden - a storyteller, dreamer, and romantic - a comedian and a Muppet in human form whose humor was on par with Monty Python and Fozzie Bear - a nerd who loved board games, painting miniatures, history, lord of the rings, and all things sci-fi/fantasy/stop motion - but above all, he was an incredible father whose greatest pride in life was us kids. His love for us was truly unconditional and through every stage of my life he always accepted, supported, and encouraged me. I am who I am today because of him; the attributes that I'm most proud of in myself were all grown from the seeds of his example, curiosity, and empathy. He still had so many aspirations and dreams he wanted to accomplish, and even though I feel like I want to give up, I'll do my best to continue in his honor and accomplish those aspirations/dreams for him so his legacy can live on through me. @ianjmax, @strangeunusualbat and I love you forever papa. I hope we get to see you across the rainbow bridge again someday.

2023 was yet another year of drastic changes; however, even though those changes have come with massive burnout and hardship, there have still been flittering moments of happiness and inspiration interwoven. It was difficult to envision the future when I was in North Carolina, but now that I'm living somewhere new, I feel more hopeful. I'm cautiously optimistic for 2024, but there's still a lot of personal work to be done in order to actualize and achieve the goals I've set for the coming year. It takes a lot of time to stabilize after starting life over in a new state, so finding time for anything creative is going to be a slow process, but I'm determined to integrate it back into my life again. I recently saved up enough money to buy another Roland Juno G synth to replace my broken one, so I can FINALLY fill the void caused by not having a proper musical outlet for over 4 years 🥲 I probably sound like a broken record since this is the THIRD state I've moved to since 2019, but this place actually feels like somewhere I wouldn't mind to planting my roots into. 🖤 Thank you to anyone who is remotely interested in keeping up with me, despite how elusive and sporadic I am. 🖤🖤🖤

Winter has finally descended on Michigan and it is making me feel alive again. When I used to live in Utah I would take walks at night in the snow and it was so peaceful (especially since no one else was going to be outside in the cold at 1am 😆) and I've missed it so much. I'm fortunate enough to have a small forest behind my house to wander in, which makes this 10x better ❄️ Black metal + winter + forest night walks = me at the peak of happiness 🖤 Side note: my "The Last Judgement" (painting by Fra Angelico) shower curtain makes an amazing backdrop 🤣
