The Ministry for Primary Industries’ ambitious export-double initiative launched in mid-2025. It aims to double export revenues from the primary sector by 2034 and to boost the economic and environmental performance of New Zealand’s food and fibre sector.

- Growth and sustainability initiatives in the Hort Sector, including: achieving year-round supply; development of new premium varieties; plant-variety-right protection; innovation and agri-tech solutions; and
- Headwinds and challenges currently being faced: tariffs; non-tariff trade barriers; access to sufficient seasonal labour for harvesting, packing, etc; climate change impacts; local regulatory settings; and broader geopolitical issues
