What are some alternatives to FreeFileSync?

I've been using FFS for over a decade and love the UI. My employer IS security team recently won't let me use FreeFileSync because they say it's a security issue. That it contains malicious files. I even tried to run it as a portable app but it's still an issue. What is a good paid alternative?

I'd start by asking the security team for a for either a whitelist or blacklist of sync programs. that way you don't waste time finding something you like only to discover they don't allow that one either

Yeah they don’t seem interested in researching and finding a solution for me. I think they just run executables through virustotal.com

grsync is probably what you want

Syncback Pro is excellent. There's a free version, and you can run either as a portable app if you want.

They said this is “full of adware”. 😤

get a computer on a hdmi stick. put ffs on it. then network share between your stick and your computer.

of course if they dont want you installing apps they probably dont want you using a stick computer either...

ffs, use FreeFileSync

Power your online presence with netcup! 🚀 Get domains, web hosting & servers at unbeatable prices!

Try syncthing, it's FOSS and I have been using it to sync files & photos across my laptop, phone and home sever from past 1 year.

SyncThing is the opposite of what I want because I want to sync a file on the same computer. SyncThing doesn't let you do that, at least not without running multiple instances and making it more complicated

I posted this for OP's problem

I found this:

just downloaded ImgBurn, another program that has OpenCandy in the installer. First I ran the installer normally, and saw the OpenCandy portion offering a 3rd-party program. Then I quit the installer, and then opened up a command prompt (using Run as Administrator), and ran the installer with the /NOCANDY switch, and never saw the OpenCandy portion offering any 3rd-party programs. So it seems the /NOCANDY switch does work.

There are a couple other ways to prevent OpenCandy from installing any 3rd-party programs,

So it's in the installer

I also ran it as a PortableApp and they still saw I was using it. How would that have opencandy?

That's why ur company then finds it still? Is it hidden in freefilesync these days.?

They included opencandy? Or is that like in the install package as optional where much users accidentally select or default selected

Let them prove it's malicious? Is it?

The proof of burden would be on the op, not the other way around

I don’t think FFS is malicious but it doesn’t matter—I can’t use it. They’ve already talked to me about it twice. I’m not getting fired over FFS. They are seeing opencandy adware.

Was told by our security department this has “keygen.rar” in it - it doesn’t.

Syncthing is the goat

What direction are you wanting to use FFS? And do they let you use WSL?
