Vice President JD Vance's approval rating has fallen sharply, hitting what CNN data analyst Harry Enten says is the lowest point for any vice president at this stage in office.

Newsweek contacted Vance's office for comment via a contact form on the White House's website.

Why It Matters

Early goodwill has evaporated quickly for Vance, according to polling data aggregated by CNN, and his slide mirrors broader political headwinds facing the White House.

What To Know

Vance's standing with voters has taken a dramatic turn for the worse, according to Enten, who said the numbers now placed him in historically weak territory when compared with other vice presidents at the same point in their terms.

Speaking on CNN, Enten walked viewers through his own aggregate of national polls tracking Vance's popularity since he took office in January 2025.

According to the polling averages the data analyst presented, Vance now ranks last among modern vice presidents when measured at this stage of their tenure.

Enten showed that Vice President Kamala Harris was at minus 13 points at a comparable moment. Mike Pence stood at minus 7, Joe Biden had a net positive of 4 points and Dick Cheney had the significantly higher net approval rating of plus 37.

The data analyst described Vance's standing as "historically the worst" when compared to the other vice presidents.

While he allowed that vice presidents in general appeared to be becoming less popular over time, the trend did not fully explain the depth of Vance's decline.

"JD Vance is not doing too hot to trot at this point," Enten said, noting that the former U.S. senator from Ohio had started his vice presidency in positive territory.

Vance's net approval rating has dropped from plus 3 points to minus 18. "That is a 21-point swing in the wrong direction," Enten said, adding, "Down he goes."

Enten suggested the drop did not appear to be happening in isolation. He said Vance was being "dragged down along with the president of the United States" and pointed to a broader political environment weighing on the administration as a whole.

What Happens Next

It remains to be seen whether Vance's numbers will stabilize or continue falling as the broader political landscape shifts, with future polling expected to reflect developments tied to the administration's agenda and the next phase of the election cycle.

JD Vance has been busy in Hungary campaigning for authoritarian Orban, who is attempting to remain in power forever through voter suppression and election manipulation.

Orban's authoritarian rule in Hungary is what MAGAS crave in America.

You will not get what you want, Magas.

After JD messes up the Iran peace talks he will sink even lower than he already is.
