Also, x86's complex instructions mean you need fewer instructions to do the same thing, so code is denser and fits in the i-cache better.

AVX is programmable and flexible so it does not qualify as an ASIC. You can use AVX for PS3 emulation, video encoding, 3D rendering, physics simulation, AI workloads, and so on and so on.

An H.264 ASIC can be used to decode and encode H.264. That's it.

The Chinese are pumping big money into RISC-V now in an effort to wean themselves off of US tech dependencies.

My PC for it's entire 10 month life has consistently restarted itself twice a month. Once near thr beginning of the month within the first 5 days, then again within the last 5 days of the month. I tried to fix it initially but have just been dealing with it since it's not THAT annoying until the beginning of this month when it caused me to lose important work. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? My own research I've found no solutions.

Firefox can just use ublock origin like desktop

For the past few days whenever I put my computer in sleep mode and then try to wake it back up, it doesn't boot back up. The lights in the case turn on and the fans start running, but the screen stays black and my peripherals don't light up. I have to force shut down and power it back on to get back to normal and into the OS.
I've always used sleep mode instead of shut down when I go to bed or leave the house, shutting down and/or rebooting every couple weeks just to make sure nothing gets weird. This is a new behavior and I've changed nothing about my system or Windows to feasibly cause this.
I looked around and one solution seemed to be to turn off quick boot in power settings, but that didn't help. Any ideas?

random shit to talk about: anyone else shares devices with others? i let my cousin play on my laptop, he recently came from switzerland to sleep over for a week, i let him log in to his steam and install his games (our tastes in games differ). safe to say it's his first exposure to linux :^). another bizarre fact is that he literally only recently discovered how to roll an iso to a usb stick after i was helping him troubleshoot his windows not booting up. it's bizarre because how the fuck are you an avid gamer when you don't know how to maintain your battlestation in terms of software?

hey techniggabrosisters, you are careermaxxing with AI, right?

apart from making it create use case specifications, requirements, design, code, tests, technical and user documentation that is

I've used microsoft copilot in work-mode to careermax with minimal effort, basically just creating a personal development plan that sounds based to management but is all just shit i normally do
and I've used it to argue my case for above average yearly raise
cant help but feel that there are use cases I've missed
>>
>>108590707
There's so many answers to this. Here's a few:

So that you have the knowledge and skills to do things for yourself instead of chirping like a baby bird hoping that mamma will barf prechewed worms into your mouth.

And because it feels so good to fix things yourself, especially when you get so good at fixing things that you make that old broken thing better than the day it was built.

People who sit around crying that they need money to buy their dreams will never know the joy of building a tiny piece of that dream with their own two hands.

What else is there to do in life other than waiting to die?
